Minimal specifications are already rather low and with improvements to come. They want to keep of the reserve for the planetary landings. The game will be more greedy at this moment there, certainly

I don't believe it has anything to do with reserving for later as that's moot - FD don't know it's even going to happen yet - rather imo it's to make the game available to a wider audience to help with sales.

You are correct that planetary landing will cause the minimum specification to go up but that's something to deal with in about 2+ years time.

Of course, but also for having a margin of safety for planetary landings. Landscapes, faun, cities ... should be added to the resources needed to play properly

There are many other pledge benefits on the way up the ladder to Alpha - come on and join us......

Jonty! Jonty! Jonty!

As for Michael's specs - I would suggest a goal of 4gb minimum m/board memory - (lets face it if you have a machine that came with 2gb or less the memory for that machine is probably only going to cost about £10.00 per 2gb).

There will always be time to upgrade as the game progresses and stuff like planetary landings becomes available......

Damnit! If I get anymore excited I'm gonna exploBANG!

Anyway with my AMD Athlon 64 single core, my Radeon X1650 Pro, my 2 gigabytes of ram ddr 400, I can not participate in the alpha. But in a few months, I am going to make turn the V8 ... vrooom ... vrooom

Alpha Test Pledge

Couple of quick questions if I may ref the 200 pounds pledge,

1, the kickstarter part - Kickstarter Special: Have the option to start in the founder's world with any starter ship and 4,000 CR. Note: any Kickstarter decal-carrier will be able to travel to this secret system in gameplay. Is this still available to me or anybody else if they purchase now the kicstarter has passed?

2, Optional starts, you have a variety of different ships to start in, having chosen one do the others then retract, so in essence its one ship per pledge or?

Thanks in advance

Not sure about 1, but I think 2 means you can pick any of the starting options of the pledge tier every time you start a new Commander.

Hi atome,

Yes the pledge option is still available just now, how long will it be? We don't know.. :)

The start options are available every time you start a new commander, so if you want to fly basic sidewinder and 100 credits.. you can, or you can fly any other starting ship you have pledged for. There is a max number of commanders you can have at any given time- currently that number is 3.

Hope that helps

I reckon there'll have to be some restrictions on starting new commanders with extra credits, because otherwise it's a bit easy to rinse them. Maybe just something like a time-lock would do though.

agreed. one every 24 hours would be fine but i think the lock should be on deleting one of the 3 slots. that way if a friend turns up you can let them try even if you have just started a new one yourself (as long as it wasnt after deleting one)

will the beta have trackIR?

for a normal backer (25 pound) - what is the first time we can play a beta or similar testdemo / or do we have to wait for the reelase?

I think you will need to Jonty up to beta level to play in beta. (Come on Jonty up and joins us :))
