An open letter to Frontier Development

Edit: It's also somewhat ironic that the guy who tipped off massivelyOP about this Open Letter was a signatory of the previous Open Letter that caused IIs and CGs to be cancelled and this was a cause of the current Galnet emptiness. something something careful what you wish for...
Quite. Also, while i casually read massivelyOP, i wouldn't put too much value on it. It's a site run by a small number of people. That makes them very vulnerable to manipulation, not to mention that it became visible several times in the past, that some of the writers also use the site to push their own agendas.

So actually in case of ED, the site up to now did much more harm than they could do good still. (That's completely disconnected from this thread and the idea of reviving GalNet. I would really appreciate this. This posting is only about the impact of the mentioned external site. )
Ha, another one 🤣
The real irony is you thinking that it was me (incorrect) who tipped off MassivelyOP to write an article about this thread.

Guess i'm in your head a lot 😁

Hmm. I have no idea who triggered the article on massivelyOP and i really don't care. So sorry to disappoint you, but you're absolutely not in my mind. My comment merely is about the impact of that site and it's history.
Sure, and that you quoted Factabulous' section about me, with a folliw-up of "quite", was purely unintentional.

Rent-free living in peoples' heads is quite cool, if a little weird at first 😂

Whoa, all Stuart's on the internet are me? Awesome!

I heartily agree with CMDR Kai’s comments. Since the demise of Galnet, the galaxy feels less “alive” than it previously did. Given the scale of the game, and the time often spent out in the black alone, this often privided and increased sense of being a part of something much larger and more active. It is a shame that so much effort was made to add voice reading of Galnet in-cockpit, and for that to have now fallen by the wayside. Please bring Galnet back.

Sincerely

CMDR AlanBell

Out of curiosity, how many saying "Bring back GalNet!" would be just as happy if not happier if ED were to bring back CGs and / or IIs? For me the current state of GalNet is just a symptom of a much worse disease - the death of content itself.

As a fluff fanatic (which makes me sound like a perv but... ;) ) I can't think of anyone who would not want that. My only want would be that each II and CG pushed the story forwards in some form of narrative, in a way everyone then gets what they want.

I would be happy, but I wouldn't be happier. I think my post yesterday said everything it needed to. The decline of Galnet over the last few years has been tragic to watch.

I honestly never understood why CGs weren't auto-generated as a random but rare outcome of a BGS state.
e.g. a recurring Boom has a 0.1% chance of starting a Trade CG

That would result in more CGs than the old one or two a week with a consequently greater jeopardy that, shock-horror, they might fail to reach Tier 1.

What I find strange is that IIs are not seen as a starting point for Galnet, and not the A > B > C way of doing things. Lugh should be a great template of DMing players, with planned branches.

If the event is great enough, players will be hungry for more but also feel waiting for the next one is not wasted time.
