Anthem

Pff, what is he poor or something. CEO of a properly devilishly greedy publishing company should have a pool big enough to sail his yacht on.
I thought every CEO has a yacht with a pool big enough to sail a yacht around on nowadays?

Hm... do you think there will be exosuits for the Javelins to build some kind of super-Javelin (like in Power Rangers)?

Wouldn't it be great to build a Colossus for my Interceptor. :D

Oh wow.. not even Warframe did something this annoying for the Junction unlocks o_O Maybe if these already count before you get to these missions, then it's okay, but if you have to do each separately and from scratch, that's some horrible game design.

Those complaints are hilariously identical to ED's criticisms. I wonder if there's some school of terrible game design that multiplayer open world makers are all going to. Anyway, seems like they've "captured the classic Bioware" feeling. [haha]

It's an unfortunate pitfall of catering to players who mostly enjoy garbage.

Now, now. I rather think it's a disconnect between mission design and story telling. Having different people work on that likely is the reason.

I played one of the story missions in demo, I had trouble recalling what I was doing and what it'd be actually good for in terms of advancing the plot.

Warframe story missions were better narrated, but they were solo missions at the critical parts.

Yeah, and Warframe also needed quite some time to nail it. I mean just look at the disparity between say.. Howl of the Kubrow and Second Dream. Still, even at its worst, the junctions don't make you come to a screeching halt in your planet hopping. Because you can fulfill them ahead of time, if you want to.

Seems to be suffering from a lot of things that were hurting "the division": big pretty set pieces, lots of bland bullet sponges scattered about and not much of a story. At least the division tried out some new ideas, the most bioware can seem to fart out is "look! you can fly n' stuff"

You haven't even try playing it, have you...

There is 1 (in words - one) mission that can be considered annoying and that one is going to be changed by day 1 patch. Every mission is narrated and a part of the story and there is over 3 hours of cinematics.

Very nice review-ish video that very much sums up my feelings about the game.

Review videos as well word of mouth from friends who own it tell me to not waste my money. I'll give it a try once it goes ftp. I just get a strong impression of meh, but I can understand that some really enjoy it. Same goes for ED for me, very meh for me but some find it is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

"Anthem's meh. Elite's meh"

One almost wants to ask what are you doing on Elite forum in the Anthem thread, then. :D

But one won't...
Instead, I'll just repeat that the game is a blast to play and even if it was great just for those 30-40 hours of story, I'd feel I got my money's worth. And with the prospect of the game growing over the years, just like Destiny, Warframe etc. I really don't regret anything.
Same with Elite. Still soldiering on after all those years. ;)

But you did ask.
It's a well run forum and fairly moderated. I don't post in the ED section anymore, just off topic and general gaming. Also seeing if Anthem lives up to the hype, opinions are mixed :)

Oh, I dint know you can cast combos and magic powers in Division.

Replace the words "magic" with "tech" and yes you can!

Sorry, but this is very wrong. In the division guns are the main gameplay factor, abilities like throwing turrets add a little to it. They are not a playstyle that is viable.

In anthem you can build your gear around abilities and make them gamechanging. The storm is just some fancy techno mage casting spells and he is powerful without firing a single shot.

Imo in that sense anthem is way more an arpg than the division. The whole setting is ok for having magic powers. The division realistic setting is trying too hard to fit into the whole hunting treasures gameplay.

I'm going to give this a miss for now and maybe get it in a sale in a few months. A few patches and extra content won't do it any harm until then.
