Engineers beta player with 1000s of hours, about to uninstall elite!

These quitting threads are getting tedious now. [zZzZz]

Its a great video, and good tip for pre planning an escape. ;)

Cosmos in this video you were not mass locked. And your opponent wasn't damaging you thru your shields...

The game changes version to version are simply unacceptable. This game is no longer playable for me.

I think you need to adapt. The game is fine.

Tonight I got interdicted over a dozen times just trying to explore a populated fed system. I don't want to fight so I flee... Generally I flee whenever I can when I am exploring or trading. Tonight, another NPC python interdicted my A class python (no engineer modifications at all). And somehow, not only, kept up with me while I was trying to boost away. But did so while maintaining near continuous fire on me! My initial boost got me 1000 meters ahead in about 15 seconds (had to pop a shield booster) and I initiated my FSD but had to wait a factor of 17 to initiate. Which makes no sense to me if I am 1000 meters away! Boosting again but then he also appears to be boosting and in less than 10 seconds closed the gap to 200 meters even though I was repeatedly boosting. This python somehow had the speed of a viper! Next thing I noticed my thrusters are gone- and in a few seconds my frame shift drive is gone, both off line! Somehow he destroyed these systems with my shields still up!!! How is that possible in the elite universe? In a few more seconds my shields collapse and that's it... During all of this my power distribution is shields and engines, yet this other python not only closed the gap but it also maintained near continuous fire on me?! These game changes version to version, are so severe and game crippling that I no longer can tolerate it...

Have you considered changing your ship? May I suggest you get a clipper, its faster than the Python and has similar utility. With x3 dirty drive tuning from Farseer, which is relatively easy to get, you'll out run all NPCs.

"This game is broken! My old method of play no longer works, and I refuse to adapt to the situation"

It's the extreme changes to the game that is the problem. One day to the next, with each micro version, a completely different game is played. Sometimes performing within a level of expectations of what is considered the bounds of elite dangerous and sometimes performing completely outside the bounds of expectations for elite dangerous. These extreme changes appear with zero warning of a need to adapt. If Elite frustration is getting to me, a player at my level... what is it doing to the average player?

I agree with you there, the only real preparation for the new NPCs in 2.0 was PVP in open play. I think frontier should have communicated this a little better because most players hadn't experienced this level of threat prior to 2.1. That said, the NPCs are still nothing like as dangerous as competent PVP commanders.

also, consider buying a dictionary so you can look up the meaning of words you don't seem to fully understand and therefore you can use them in the correct context. :)

Err no, it doesn't. No game like this has difficulty settings. It's Elite Dangerous. Maybe wait for a game called NotSoElite: Safe to come out?

I've quoted your post again for clarity...and yup, pretty much falls into the "arrogant" opinion of someone saying play the game this way because "I" like it and sod everyone else?

And the name of the game refers to a RANK not the games difficulty, but hey that's been said a million times on the forum already. <rolls eyes>

I like your idea for a difficulty setting for solo mode. I picked solo mode because I didn't want to take a chance to lose the 100 or so systems of exploration data I had on me. Hindsight being 20 20 I probably would have been safer playing PVP...

What did you misunderstand about a 'cutthroat galaxy' ? Its written all over the website.

Hello. Average player here.

I quite like the changes :) and seem to have adapted very well too!

I'm not that great a pilot but I do know the rules, here's me fighting 6 NPCs at once and killing my target, an elite Clipper and his elite mates.

Very instructive, thanks for sharing that. Perhaps someday I'll be able to fight like that.

It's not as hard as you think, the biggest mistake most people make is too many shield boosters, not enough SCB banks, incorrect shield PIP settings and not enough heat sinks.

Until now playing solo mode has allowed exploration players to survive a return with exploration data. Yes you may occasionally get interdicted and damaged but you should survive... Now it's so unpredictable depending on an unknown version of the game that changes day to day... The expectation of game play is within performance bounds that are best ascribed to physics based on science fiction limits, as opposed to anything human or cutthroat. Dramatic changes in capability or performance ruins the expectation of any game...

Yup there's a complete inability for some people on the forum to recognise that everyone playing the game isn't the same skill wise. This can be for any number of reason, from physical disabilities to time constraints. It's unreasonable for a form of entertainment to be so rigid.

This is one of the things wrong with the latest update: play exactly this way, or don't play at all:

Don't play at all: making high-wake (jumping to another system) absolutely the only way to solve such an encounter is bad. You might as well just log off. There is nothing entertaining, fun, challenging etc. about high-waking. High-waking was supposed to be the "way out" for players in case everything else fails. The "oh snap, that didn't work, time to leg it before I'm dust" moment. Now it's the "press X to not die" quick time event you resolve these pre-determined unbalanced encounters with. Yawn.

Play exactly this way: go see the Engineers. There's no alternative. Legacy modules don't have any role. Is anyone using E or D grade thrusters at all? Why are they in the game, just so we have a mandatory visit to the Outfitting menu? Bigger is better, follow the recipe, aim for the rank X module. Don't have it yet? Better use that high-wake then.

High waking out isn't the only way out of that encounter, i'd wager the OP flew in a straight line for essentially 2-3 minutes, of course the AI destroyed him just like any player would :p

There's some truth in this, but there's also a section of the gaming population that are really resistent to learning and taking advice. Many people that initially had problems have now adapted but some people are very insistent that the game should change rather than them.

Many of us vet players have been pointing out for quite some time that the game was previously faceroll easy. ED lacked jeopardy and I think its largely why folks got bored of the game. I find myself interdicted almost exclusively by Elites at this point and I think thats a bit unrealistic - Frontier will likely do a balance pass on that but as I and many people in this thread are telling you, we are able to adapt. So why aren't you? I've offered you a decent solution, and there is a really helpful vid for you in this thread, but you seem entrenched in how you have been playing.

Frankly, and no offense meant, the problem is you. ;)
