Buckyball Run 9: Move 'em out, let it roll!

EDIT: FoxTwo! Oh my goodness, I thought I was gonna have to cancel BBR9 before the final run if you didn't show up. You were in the pre-pre-race thread, got first post and everything and then disappeared. Folks, CMDR FoxTwo is the only other Buckyballer besides yours truly to possess the entire Buckyball Bumpersticker collection going all the way back to Buckyball 1. Assuming he finishes BBR9 in his Cobra Mk IV (and there's no reason to assume he won't, he's stubborn like that) he will collect his 9th dot, including the star for the Buckyball A*. Plus he brings a rather fetching fan club with him to the after party, which is never a bad thing... Welcome back F2! See you on the Shine!

LOL thanks man.

Yup finished the run in the Cobra Mk 4, and with "chatting time" thrown in too.. was talking to Kligg during the run, so I didn't always "jump on the dot" when the FSD cooldown finishes.

Now that I'm at Maia... I'm gonna go look for the PSBs....and I mean this kind below:

But I wouldn't mind this one too:

Oh btw Kligg, I was mistaken in my time...had forgotten I took off before 0600 GMT so had to add some extra minutes in there.. but still, less than 30 mins. Not too shabby methinks :)

EDIT: Gee, Raptr is classifying Horizons as a separate game from ED... so now I only have an hour or so in Horizons... :(

And finally, and to prepare for possibly the oldest and most hallowed rule of the Buckyball Run, it allows those who plan to finish first to prepare their bank accounts to pay the bar tabs of the other racers, because as is well known amongst Buckyballers, the winners buy the drinks...

CMDR Cookiehole, meanwhile, still holds the top slot at 15:44, just a ship length ahead of three-time Buckyball champion CMDR Alot, who has been conspicuously absent these last few days of racing...

Lastly, in Solo Hauler, we had three commanders simultaneously looking to suck up to Bucky while pursuing an easy BBR Championship reverse dot.

See you all aboard the Shotgun Shine for the after-party! With my current times posted, I don't believe I'll be needing to bring my credit chit... ;)

Waaaah! This is a conspiracy, right? You all want to make me go broke! I can't pay for so many drinks! I might have to suddenly disappear after the live race, otherwise I can't afford that mighty 7A scoop anymore.
At least these Hauler Solo pilotes show some intent to ease my burden, thank you! ;)
Nevertheless, I'll again try to improve the Open times today, we don't wanna have Alot sneaking in there, do we? :D

Was having a great run; was melting like I've never melted before; FSD and PD failures galore. And then pirates wanting my non-existent cargo. Managed to get away with 7% hull and land without any more damage, but it destroyed my time. :(

Dumb pirates are the worst.

Damn... and there I thought 15:46 was a fairly unassailable time. Serious kudos to Cookie and Robin for doing it quicker!

No more runs from me except for the live final tonight. And next week, off to join the Distant Suns Expedition!

Im half expecting A lot to post up 14 minutes or something ridiculous. I was on for about 15:30 when a cthulu cultist dicted me. ;(
then on the way back I greedily agree to take 7 medicinal salves on the hush hush somewhere and forgot I didn't have A5 thrusters on and was scanned by the first viper that dicted me. bloody rozzers!.
Might have left it a bit late now to start trying to get a better time. Ill sell the python and buy the big scoop.. see what that does. good luck to all runners.

If I want to race "tomorrow" I need to go to bed. Sorry Cookie, I'm not going to save you from that tab. The best I could do for Solo Hauler was 2nd, assuming no one does better, which I doubt is a safe assumption.

Good luck to everyone making their final attempts, and let's all have fun with Live! part 2. :)

Haha, I'm not sure I can beat Cookiehole's Asp time if I'm honest!

I don't think I'll be touching that Open Unlimited time... The Hauler might be another story :p

Well, now I'm into that 2sec slower than the last one zone.
That's the way, keep that up! ;) :D

I may or may not make the second live run.

My procedure (having the post for a dental implant put in) got pushed back a day, so I'm only on the second day after it and not the third, and thus am still on the painkillers I expected to be off of by now. On top of that, I've done something to my right shoulder that is making it hard for me to fly right now -- and oddly enough, the industrial-grade painkillers I'm on for the implant site pain--the ones I really don't trust myself to fly on without slamming into everything in sight--don't seem to do jack for my shoulder.

We'll see how I feel in a few hours. I'll make it if I can.

EDIT: Gee, Raptr is classifying Horizons as a separate game from ED... so now I only have an hour or so in Horizons... :(

How did you even get it to recognise Horizons, mine won't record when I'm playing? I first noticed when I was playing the Beta and then since launch, I thought because it was now a 64-bit exe, it won't let me record anything.

BBR9 Hauler Podium Problems...

Meanwhile in Obsidian Orbital:

I became slightly angry when I dropped in to Obsidian Orbital, re-requested docking and didn't get a pad assigned (for a minute or so. Long time when you try to shave that last second off ). At least that saved me the return trip, I already wondered when I'd use that 40k teleport back to Garden Enterprise...

Quite randomly, my Raptr still recognises Horizons as Elite: Dangerous (in my Raptr library it's still identified as ED Beta!), and I can still record.

When I stop a recording and then restart though, the clock stays at 00:00:00 for a random length of time (sometimes several minutes, during which it's not recording.

I'm going to give OBS a go instead I think.

Much as it would be fantastic to see you there... You take care of yourself, buddy! There'll be plenty more Buckyballs to come (right, EZ? :D)

Ah, it didn't detect Horizons when I ran with the default FD launcher (no Steam) too. Only after I had the Steam key and installed Horizons (Steam forced it into a new folder) and Raptr finally detected it but classified it separate from ED.

Actually I don't use Raptr to record anything. At best, I use it to screenshot timings for BBRs. Raptr is basically just an IM for me, and I disable most everything else. I record with Bandicam, which allows me more control over Shadowplay. Raptr offers the least amount of options and controls regarding recording game videos, and it insist on uploading them to plays.tv which I do not like, ie keeps popping up dialog box asking me to log in to plays.tv and I keep cancelling.

Hm, I think I know what I did wrong and I may be able to shave half a minute to a minute off my time. So I'm tempted to try it again later, if I find the time. But how the hell do you people manage that in 15 minutes, in an Asp? Wow.

unfortunately I won't be able to do the live run "tonight" either, since I'm gmt-6 and will still be at work when you guys kick off.

Looks like no Party Barge for you :(

Practice, a good deal of experience from past Buckyball runs and Buckyball Racing Club events, many attempts, in some cases optimized routes, planetary braking, ignorance concerning 'temperature critical' warnings and hull health, completely stripped down ships and a portion of madness :D
