Chieftain Size and perhaps other specs

the FAS already has a higher agility then the FDL,

so the Chieftain will place somewhere around 160 Agility rating (between Asp explorer and Asp Scout).
they didn't mention speed anywhere, so i guess its similar to the Scout when it comes to that (same manufacturer)

i cannot see it anywhere around python when it comes to either Hardpoints or Internals.
they would really need to slap a C4 slot under the belly to be in the FDL/Python region.
for python internals, it would need some of those magic slots where you can fill out the whole hull with cargo without losing ANY armor (Python/Conda)

and lakon ships are usually VERY inefficent when it comes to internal space usage (looking at you T7 and T9)

Yes, I'm fully aware. Why I use it over my FDL. I was referring to the 6 utility slots/4 medium HPs for rock-paper-scissors meta. If it has that, and the agility that I love from my FAS. It's a no brainer.

I agree though, that it probably wont be so well kitted out util wise. I think it is wishful thinking.

Last I heard it doesn't look like it has a bay for it, which is preferable to me, since I don't use SLFs.

Wouldn't you even want the option? Is it really preferable to not have an option, rather than to have the option to not have it.

I'd rather the latter :)

Guessing on some stuff

More agile than FDL and FAS
slower than them, but faster than Python, probably around 365 A rated.
Weapons 4 medium 1 large.
Shields. More in line with Python than FDL
4 utility points
Cargo bay pretty naff say 80 -100 tonnes max as this is combat ship, Two military module slots to help armour the ship up.
Jump range. Typical combat ship, so around 15 lyrs un engineered, if mainly A rated.

Based on the comparative size of the cockpit and the pilot inside in that image, it looks like this ship is going to be just south of Python size when you measure out to the tips of the nacelles and whatnot.

I would definitely want the option to run with an SLF. If this ship is supposed to be some kind of uber combat ship then why the hell not?

Well no, since in theory it would be a game balancing component, and since I don't use SLFs, I'd rather a bit of a boost in performance elsewhere (instead of the theoretical handicap of not using SLFs would provide otherwise), like the maneuverability that has been mentioned so far. It purportedly being the most maneuverable medium sized ship in the game would seem to suggest that it likely doesn't hold SLFs – this suggests it might be the 4th most maneuverable ship in the game after the Eagle, Vulture, and Sidewinder. I'd much rather have that. See what I'm saying?

Only more I could hope for would be a bit better jump range, say 20 non-Engineered A rated, and with decent shield and fuel scoop at the same time.

Would be just about my dream ship then. :)

for you:

1. is the large Hardpoints hatch, clearly sliding to the back - not visible in the frontal view at all
2. is the edge of the scoop i am talking about
3. is a light that can be seen from both perspectives
4. is a black detail that can be seen from both perspectives
5. is a detail that can NOT be seen in the frontal view, so it must be behind the edge of 2.
6. is a detail that can again be seen from both perspectives.

comparing two perspectives should be my forte or i should quit what i am earn my money with...
I think you labeled some parts wrong, but I am starting to see where that Large mount is.
What you labeled 4 I think is that smaller segment midway down, and what you pointed at is that other block next to 6.

But I almost wonder if its different render models, parts of its angle geometry doesn't match.

But the large would then be a very high dorsal placement - I wonder if its going to have a problem of not having any angle pointing down.

the litle black scope between the outlined 6 and the rcs thrusters in the big picture, can be seen between the AX missile launcher and what i have marked with 3 in the smaller one.
the geometry matches perfectly from what we can see.
keep in mind, im not only looking at the screenshot... im looking at the trailer too. in motion you see more in that frontal view

oh, and i really think they have placed a surprise on the belly of that ship, because they carefully NEVER show that in any of the pics or in the trailer (of the final ship i mean)
and no, i dont think its a SLF hangar

Alternative Python. Less hold space, similar weaps maybe +1, 2 more utils. Its designed to fight Thargs cos they are coming to da bubble.......

The large is the very distinctive large pulse laser. It probably won't be able to hit much below the center line of the ship, but since you're not going to be able to see down there it's probably going to be immaterial.

I'll call mine "Roadkill" it looks like a splattered possum.
:D
Looks to me more like a sleeker version of the Space 1999 shuttles, or perhaps a space based dropship/lander from some sci-fi movie or other.

Those pods look like they should rotate during landing and act like landing thrusters.

I'm calling in those bets now LOL

Looking forward to flying this one.

So you're saying you made an educated guess and were surprised by it or something? [weird] I'm not sure why you would be.

But yeah, all kinds of people wanting all kinds of things, so I guess some will be salty either way. Nothing new to see there.

Do we know for certain that it's a vertical line of hardpoints? I'd rather a diamond shaped fire pattern or something like that, mostly just for aesthetic reasons.
