Community guests at FD HQ on 27th for Q4 news

Can we not just debate the topic without endless shade being thrown? That'd be cool.

By the way, I wouldn't call it throwing shade when someone almost directly quotes them. It's what they said and that it sounds like sarcasm isn't M00ka's or my fault.

For the record, yes, the numbers of people working JUST on ED are what they say, their other games were on other floors and no, jobs like HR and finance etc staff weren't part of that number,.It was all people actively working on Elite. Compared to my last visit, they arent kidding when they say the team has never been bigger. The sweeping improvements and changes have satisfied me that they havent been idle in the last year of the free 'Beyond' update.

How do you know they didn't don dinosaur hoodies and and remove their contact-lense crib-sheets the minute you left the building?? I bet the desks rotated in the conference room too as the sentient cats resumed their PR duties...

PS cheers for the round up :)

Tbf, we were not all streamers. Although I'm awful at remembering names, IIRC there were 17 of us visiting today.

This thread has been odd to read, although I've enjoyed laughing at some of the craziness posted within it.

I disagree with your last part - salt is life! :D

If anyone has any sensible questions - yes, we're NDA-locked - I'll look at answering them tomorrow.

  • What would you like to tell us in detail, but can only communicate in broad terms?
  • Did you feel like you learned anything about the team size and morale etc?
  • What's the top question you'd like to be asked? ;)
  • Please describe your feelings about 3.3 in the format of: adverb + aroma...

Since my last post was deleted, I thought I'd ask again in a way that's not going to get me gagged asking a simple question..

Anyone know how the visitors were selected?

After reading the thread I'm really none the wiser.. and I have read the whole things over again a few times!

RNG, obvisously.

Why does it matter though?

Most likely trying to cover as much parts of community as possible plus those who have relatively easy access. I really don't think that's important though. As people points out beta will shape lot of people's opinions about Q4 anyway.

The question I'd like to ask those that attended is, did you see anything to indicate that more data has been used from StellarForge in the game?

In case that's too general a question to know what to look for, examples would be more detail in the non-landable planet textures, new celestial objects in space, new ground features on landable planets like our moon's maria (basaltic plains) that kind of thing...

yes ... ish ... OK, here we go ... it provides access to the old method under "certain circumstances" ... there's also an almost accidental side-effect of the tweak which gives a new sense of purpose and meaning to exploration beyond personal gain ... I really don't think I can say more than that.

The old method? Surely not the same exact God Honk, is it? What possible circumstances could allow that alongside the new mechanics ???

Okay, NOW I'm very concerned.
