you can die in almost every game. you can die in Doom - will it ruin your day?
That isn't the point of my comment, and you know it.
I just don't understand how 'seal clubbing' can be enjoyable, unless you are the sort of person that enjoys bullying others. PVP for BGS, Piracy, etc. is not what myself, and others, have a problem with.
To take your 'Doom' example, if I was constantly placed against players that had the best weapons, knew the maps, and were of a higher skill level than me, when I wanted to have a fair game against players of a similar level, then yes, it probably would 'ruin my day', as I would have been looking forward to simply having a laugh pew pewing, rather than constantly being head shot.
My kind of game play (exploring Goid and Guardian sites for example) isn't bland and uninteresting to me

it's sad that it's such a marginalised part of ED.
It not about finding a 'thrill' in it for me, PvP just isn't my thing. I'm just not that kind of competitive person that feels that winning over someone else is an achievement. I get a lot more satisfaction when I help someone else out (which I've done many times in ED). I'm more of a collaborative person than a competitive one and I suspect that is the root of the difference between us maybe?
100% Hard agree with you here.
