DLC18 discussion and predictions

in truth, if they're getting scaling in PC2...getting scaling in PZ2 if/when it releases would definitely convince me to buy the game.
Honestly, scaling the way they've implemented it in PC2 is probably fully feasible in the current Planet Zoo so... Why wait? :ROFLMAO:

Well that would clearly be the way to go. I just doubt it would happen given the amount of assets that would have to be reworked. Easier to start from the ground up.

That said...yeah..why wait! I'm for it and it would be one of the few things I would call "game changing" at least for the builders.

Now here’s a question, if, and I mean a big IF. This final dlc finally gives us WTE birds (cant stress this enough I am not counting on it and wouldn’t recommend expecting it) what species would you expect? I was trying to think of what birds I have seen in walk through aviaries in real life, or at least open concept bird houses (no windows). Here is what I have:

  1. Scarlet macaws
  2. Budgies
  3. Conures
  4. Rainbow lorikeet
  5. Inca turns
  6. Turacos
  7. Sunbitterns
  8. Aracaris (species of toucan)
  9. Zebra finches
  10. Inca terns
  11. Scarlet ibis
  12. American flamingos
  13. More duck species than I can remember
  14. Yellow billed stork
  15. Hamerkop
  16. Madagascar sacred ibis
  17. Ocellated turkey
  18. Night Heron
  19. Roseate spoonbill
  20. Cattle egret
  21. Sea birds like an oystercatcher
That’s everything off the top of my head. Basically the birds that are “safe” for people to walk around. What do you guys think it could be (besides the obvious answer of nothing).

Planet Coaster 1 has pigeons, guys. This is not a hint, it's just a redo from the previous Planco. The pigeons are ambient birds.

That's how I felt with jwe2, it's an decent upgrade but worth the price they are asking for? ... I have no shame for refunding it even buying at 75 percent off in a sale. The biggest issue with these kinds of games is how the dlc model is approached to existing players, if I need to pay £45 again for a new game, and other £150+ in dlc, the upgrade seems worthless in the short term.

I'm ususally pro sequel, but I agree that with JWE2 they - for me - also feel kind of flat. I know JWE players who would disagree though and I have to say, at least from dino behaviour JWE2 seems to be a bigger upgrade thatn PC2 at first sight, if we let aside that most of the "new" management features are "just" PZ features.

I have to say though, as much as I dislike the downfall from the Sims franchise, it's save to say that every sequel brought some huge unique new gameplay features to the franchise, even if it's debateable if those features were a good idea or balanced or whatever. It always felt worth a new number behind the "Sims".
I expected those BIG things in PC2 and maybe it's just because I'm no theme park enthusiast, that I don't see water park be THAT feature instead of a larger DLC.
I mean, truth be told, there will litterally be a lot of "water running down the river" as we germans say, until we even get remotely close to a Planet Zoo 2, so who knows what leaps the Planet franchise will take in the next 4 years or so. I'm just less hyped about a PZ sequel than I was before and I was always one of the players who advocated for sequels.
On a side note: If the tool building with walls and such is easier in PC2, which I assume it is, I envy that a bit, ngl. Building plain, tiled pools in PZ is a nightmare.

Goodness, it's been a while since I've even thought about a list for flying birds....it's that much off the table.

For fun...going to go with these tiers, all WTE birds.

8 birds (the very minimum and would come with a lot of building pieces)
Bald Eagle
Scarlet Macaw
Hyacinth Macaw
Sulpher Crested Cockatoo
Toco Toucan
Snowy Owl
Rhinoceros Hornbill
Kookaburra

12 birds (which I would think would be most likely of this entirely unlikely scenario) add in:
Keel Billed Toucan
African Grey Parrot
Golden Eagle
Blue and Yellow Macaw

16 birds (probably the absolute most we'd get)
Military Green Macaw
Major Mitchel's Cockatoo (AKA Pink Cockatoo)
Eurasian Eagle Owl
Pileated Woodpecker

Oh I didn’t mean as WTE animals, I was listing birds I have seen in real life aviaries that I could walk through. My bad for not being descriptive enough lol.

While i think you probably have a bigger loyal and dedicated loyal fanbase with PZ, PC is probably more interesting to a average person.
So dedicated audience vs broader audience, which will do better financially idk
I don't know, the theme park audience is much much larger than the zoo and aquarium audiences. The potential outside animal lovers does attract more people for an exciting game since there is more player interaction with rollercoasters, mascots and all the other rides.
I would argue that a zoo game will appeal to a broader audience than a theme park builder since most people would want to put down some plants and watch animals move but you have to be convinced that your are creative enough to want to build a roller coaster in order to think planet coaster is worth the investment.
Also something to consider here is it has been decades since a good quality zoo builder had been released so planet zoo had a corner on a market. Coaster building games already have planet coaster so people with less disposable income who already have planet coaster are likely not going to upgrade soon especially those who just bought it on sale.

Yeah PC2 is going to be a hit.
It will be will it be as big of a hit still unsure if it will reach planet zoo levels but it will be up there in frontiers top selling games.

I never played pc, some of you have suggested awaiting pc2 instead of buying 1. I take it water parks were the aviarys of pc, by that I mean a highly requested feature that simply was never featured despite push from fans.

Maybe this would suggest a pz2 would likely highlight aviaries as a feature in the reveal trailer.

Joke aside and to answer your question i've been on WT aviaries with parrots (including macaws) and toucans so those are locked. I've seen pics of snowy owl WT aviaries so that one counts i guess. And despite what people Say here i've also been in WT aviaries for hummingbirds so those as well (and they are some of my most wanted types of birds for this kind of exhibits). Songbirds for sure too. And i know there are "coastal" WT aviaries as well.

Looking at the Big zoos WT enclosures gives you a long list of bird species that could be included.

My favorites, the eagles, are unfortunally not among them 😭

You've never been to an aviary, have you?
No idea what you're getting at. My point is that birds that fly around in the sky and have no real bearing on the game other than being visible in the sky are functionally very different than birds in an aviary for Planet Zoo...

Well that would clearly be the way to go. I just doubt it would happen given the amount of assets that would have to be reworked. Easier to start from the ground up.

They wouldn't really need to re-work any assets though... Modders have literally figured out how to do it already.

This has probably already been touched on but as someone who has never played Planet Coaster what I’m most curious about is whether content that was DLC in the original game was present in the reveal trailer

I’ve been on the “Planet Zoo 2 is inevitable and likely where we get the bird blowout so just wait” train for a while but I’m really curious about how they’ll handle both games’ large DLC backlogs going forward

Since most of the available info comes from the website and store pages so far, I can currently find that the including themes do include some new ones but don't sound like the dlc versions the original got "Along with the original Planet Coaster theme, discover four distinct new themes to give life to your park, whether it is the majestic Mythology Theme, the sunny Resort Theme, the vibrant Aquatic Theme or the rustic Viking Theme."

It doesn't really help pinpoint the dlc model yet and probably any content creators either don't know or are holding back the info until later on. All the pictures are focused on the water rides for obvious reasons but none of the cinematic, classic or other dlc themes can be found. I guess wait until the gameplay stream to hopefully spot any familiar themes.

It does! You can play with your friends in both sandbox and franchiese. There is also special first-person mode for player to run around park and visit friends.
I want this in planet zoo so bad
It’s coming out in fall of this year (no specific date yet but probably November), so I think we can now safely assume that the next DLC will be the last.
I was so certain it would be a december release.
wait a second, does this mean a planet game will have more than 60 seconds on an unlocked stream? World changing.
people will still complain that a baby building game has more attention then their sophisticated space game.

Do we know how the DLC model will be handled?
Like are the dlcs from the first game, or atleast stuff similar to it already in the basegame?
I highly doubt there will be much returning stuff and they will sell similar theme packs to what planet coaster 1 got. This however will probably mean nothing as to how a hypothetical planet zoo 2 will function since animals are very different to scenery peices.
