DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Sri Lankan Elephant captivity stats:
3 in Europe
4 in NA
15 in Asia
1 in OCE

Its quite specialized pick again I guess.
Oh neat, this made me realize I actually have seen Sri Lankan elephants, in two different collections (OKC and DC)! I don't have my elephants listed at the subspecies level, but I suppose I could stand to. Looks like I've also seen Malayan (Houston), but interestingly not Indian, which are kept at just 3 zoos in the US.

For the monkeys to be complete for me (if we get the macaque), I'd need:
  1. Tamarin/Marmoset
  2. Howler/Spider monkey
  3. Guenon/Colobus monkey
  4. Honorable mention: nocturnal primate (night monkey/galago/loris)
In the caprines category I'm actually pretty happy with what we've got so far.
Agreed on 1 and 2 but I'd also add the squirrel monkey, and 3 needs to be expanded to be BOTH, not just either. 5 more monkeys until I'm completely satisfied. But yes, it's been so incredible to not feel like there are suffocatingly few monkey options lately.

Still need aoudad for caprines but that's it as far as things I'm actively clamoring for.

Let's play a game, pick 3 ungulates you want to see in this pack. I will check back in the evening to add up the score.

My three picks are Blackbuck, Chital, and Gaur

I go with the Indian Trio, as I call it. I don't know, if this is the rule or not, but in the zoos I was, the Blackbuck, Nilgai and Axisdeer were often mixed together and of course with the Indian rhino, so it would be a dream, to get this Trio for me.

Ngl the more the time pass, the more stupid an Sri Lanka elephant seens to me.

Like imagine a animal with 0 interest from the community, with very low captive numbers and it counterpart looks already fine, while everything it can do, it free counterpart also does, but better, and all of that while tecnically already existing ingame. That's the Sri Lanka elephant.

It's so bad that i don't think Frontier would be Greedy enough to throw it in by a price.

Do you guys think we will get a bird and if so which is your favourite pick?
I think a bird is very likely, seeing Frontier's track record with the past few packs. We got two birds in Oceania, one in Eurasia, one in Barnyard, and two in Americas...
I'm pretty confident that we'll see either a fowl of some kind (tragopan would be my favourite, but monal would be fine), or a Crane (sarus would be great, demoiselle I wouldn't really care for it but better than nothing, I guess).
While technically not a new bird species, I hope they go ahead and add the piebald morph to the Indian Peafowl. Ever since the piebald morph was introduced back in 2022, I've felt like it should have been added to the peafowl as well

I think if we get a bird in this pack it would be Himalayan Monal, because it was circulating the community long enough, and Highland Zoo they worked with before has them. But my ideal pick for a Indian DLC bird would be Dalmatian Pelican

I see the monal being brought up a lot.
I personally find it a really boring animal, so I'm hoping for a tragopan... Do you all think it would be too hard to add?

A pelican would be my favorite.
I do like dalmatians more as a species, but great white would for sure be the more versatile

But to be honest india has so many great options for birds that i really hope we will get 2 again. Barheaded goose would be awesome, satyr tragopan, himalayan monal and red jungle fowl would be awesome as we could really use some more ground fowl

I am looking forward to some “surprising” species.
In my impression, every animal DLC has something that no one can guess, And surprising animals.
What do you think it will be? I'm looking forward to a new Viverridae appearing
As a huge viverrid enjoyer, I wouldn't be opposed to the masked palm civet, but it's not a top priority for this pack. Really, the viverrids I most want to see are the common genet and African civet, neither of which work here.

Do you guys think we will get a bird and if so which is your favourite pick?
Painted stork and bar-headed goose both sound pretty good to me in terms of things that they could do with relatively little effort. If they're willing to perhaps do something a bit more effortful, the great white pelican would be incredible, even if it isn't my top pelican pick overall.
