DLC20 Discussion (maybe, but why not?)

Yeah I once said this was the least toxic community I had ever been in. Since that statement 3 years ago we have spiralled as a community all the joy has been lost because we have just consistently had even of most reasonable ideas beaten down and ignored to the point where people are now no longer willing to admit what they actually want and instead create ideas they hate simply because thats what they assume will happen. As a community we have lost hope the ever looming threat of is this the end has turned to please let it be the end. Frontier has given the community as whole depression and it is really a shame.
Wow. So accurate. This is exactly what has happened here.

Also if JW3 is coming out in November then i guess that means no anniversary for us and probably this is the last DLC?

Whole I doubt it's coming this July, I will say thay JWE 1 came put in June, i.believe when Fallen Kingdom was released. Funny enough, it also was updated the same day, adding the JW:FK dinos
Yes but it was announced in August of the previous year it released, 10 months in advance. We have 1 lol

Not sure it's that fair to blame Frontier for people being negative. If they wanted they could stop posting teasers altogether and then we wouldn't have people speculating and getting disappointed because their speculation was wrong.

I wouldnt want that because it's fun to speculate, I really enjoy it. But by its very nature, since there are probably 20 animals it could be and only 7 they pick from, it opens people up to disappointment, which leads to anger at Frontier.

I personally think Frontier's decisions with regards to DLC have been overwhelmingly positive, with maybe 1 miss out of every 7 animals added. That's a pretty good hit rate if you ask me

I guess my point is that it's unfair to guess something will be in the DLC and then get angry when it's not, because there will always be someone that's happy for an animal and someone that's sad for that exact same animal.

I'm not really concerned about all this talk of "toxicity". If anyone thinks this place is toxic then they are very lucky.

Literally nothing has changed. Been here since 2019, and nothing has changed. Every DLC comes with the same song and dance. Pessimism and optimism from every direction, hope and cope, too. Frontier misses the mark with at least something every single time. Sometimes it's just more egregious than at other times. Often it makes me wonder what the hell they're thinking.

Nobody can police opinion. Yes, sometimes people say stupid stuff, like assuming Frontier somehow neglected sexual dimorphism in a species with obvious sexual dimorphism. Sometimes complaints are more reasonable, like Frontier missing the obvious choice of a coati in a pack based on the side of the world coatis live in, even knowing how popular the coati is in their two biggest markets, Americans and Europeans. Sometimes they're pre-emptive, like with the potential new elephant.

The bottom line is, though, that if we all shut up and waited, there's be no discussion at all.

And I can only speak for myself when I say that there is precious little I want out of this game anymore. Only the most deluded still think flying birds or aquaria are on the cards almost six years in, and we're so short on significant species (even for a zoo nerd community) that half the time disagreements boil down to which "clone" (I swear to the gods, if anyone tries to correct me on the word "clone" I'll lose it) would be preferred. Someone said recently that we're lucky to still be getting content, but honestly, I disagree. At this point I just want a sequel. I don't care if all it changes is a new pathing system and a foliage brush while everything else is mostly the same. Starting fresh is beginning to feel like it would be pretty damn nice.

Yeah, honestly if there's an toxic Fandom, it's not the maker of said Fandom but the very fans. Frontier is only a company, but they've listened to a few requests in the past, other times no. But when the fans start getting angry, it truly is nobody's fault but their own

Adding to @NZFanaticn's comment, our opinions are opinions. It's all relative. Y'all know how I hate the stupid roadkill wastebasket because it's all relative! Backyard animals? Relative! Exotic or not? Re-la-tive...
To us in the US, a kangaroo is exotic. To Aussies, it's a roadkill animal. To us, an armadillo is a backyard animal, to people in Europe it's exotic (and please, don't come up and say "uhm, awkchually, I never considered it exotic"). It's all relative

As someone who's been active in many gaming communities, I can responsibly say that the PZ community is as gentle as a nursery. Many controversial topics in this community wouldn't even be considered issues elsewhere. So just take it easy. Everyone has their likes and dislikes—as consumers who've paid for a product, we all have the right to share our opinions. Honestly, since the Farm DLC, I've become pretty chill. I've come to terms with the fact that many features I want simply won't make it into PZ, so I'm genuinely at peace. My only hope now is for them to fix some existing animal-related bugs。

For example, dholes are highly adapted to cold temperatures in reality, but not in the game; adult pandas cannot be kept in groups , yet the game currently allows it.

I have noticed a bit more cynicism. But it’s normal and justified when we’re so deep in the lifespan and the devs have largely moved on. I’m happy we have the game we have and it’s still being supported. We’re all realistic and understand major breakthroughs are most likely sequel material. This community is very tame for gaming standards

At least we’d have a new game each year! Also, more canids and cats!
EA Games challenge EVERYthing
But I can't get over how they ruined Maxis. Spore was my favorite game growing up!

I mean, the worst that happens is we dislike an animal choice. Apart from that, a lot of fans, even those that don't like a particular pack, tend to buy it anyways because they'll find some way to use the new content

The more I play Planet Coaster 2, the more I WANT things to stay mostly the same between PZ and PZ2. The new controls, the new grid highlights, the new UI sorting of building items, the oversaturated graphic, the low foliage quality, the missing multi-recolor tool, the constant clicking and more all are so TERRIBLE and tear the fun out of me so much while playing, that ME, who was always looking forward to a sequel and justified its possible existence and was really looking forward to it is HONESTLY considering never to play a sequel until I am guaranteed they do NOT change controls and UI.
I'm still trying my best to learn PC2s way, but I feel more and more it has been programmed by people who never played a Planet game in their life.

And unpopular opinion, but I hate the new path system, but that is at least something I can probably learn to use down the line. The rest, especially the new multi-select tool and the weird item sorting is something I will never get used to though, and it was the worst decision they ever made.

I would be interested to finally play with aviaries, yes. I would also be interested to have other new game mechanics. I understand the wish to start fresh. But I faced hell...
