I did my homework, thanks. Fanbois have pumped up the Steam review to the point that it is outright fiction, YouTube videos are not made with a portrayal of a poor or unfinished product. Consumers are notoriously biased as either drastically vapid fanbois or purely negative. Nary a review site exists at this point that isn't flagrantly bribed---virtually all of them gush over titles who have obviously paid for a good review or panned it based on a lack of kickback. Because of this any homework done still carries a significant risk.
There is no reason I should have to review a video game product to a degree greater than a new car purchase in order to determine whether or not they are charging full finished price for an unfinished product anyway. It's been a bane in this industry for two decades at this point and still happens. The fact that anyone believes you SHOULD have to do such a thing just underscores how brainwashed the masses have become to this accepting this practice.
It's not finished, threads like this back that up---even those desperate to "support the developers" do so because they are worrying about developer dollars because they want them to finish the thing. Early Access is the Steam category for knowingly purchasing unfinished games. It's existence is intended to display an honest representation of what you are purchasing WITHOUT doing an idiotic amount of research just to determine if a developer bothered to finish their product or not before release. It's where this should have been placed when it went on there.
But all of this is ok, and you are absolutely right---I did carry the risk all on my own, accepted it and own it. But I'm not going to blow sunshine and rainbows up anybodies tailpipe. I took the risk and wound up with less than I'd hoped for, and believe that though an option existed to be up front with me, through a certain level of dishonesty it was not taken. As such, I'm entirely unconcerned about an commissions incurred over the course of attempting to market a product.
