My 12yo Son loves it... and is actually using it sensibly...not all day.. taking big hour breaks before going back..

and he's finding all the cool stuff for it!!

People are mad, my Rift, costing less than £250 went for £350 on fleaBay! A little extra to put towards DK2 - I hope people are as silly in the months before the consumer unit comes out.

Oculus setup

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to get the Oculus Rift working. The Dev demo software works fine, but I can't get it working with Elite. Can anyone help?

Whats the problem your having?

The only issue I had was that it might not work so well if you "clone" your desktop into the rift. It seems to work best if you "extend" your desktop (use Windows settings).

Make sure everything is plugged in and working, open the game up normally. Put it in oculus rift mode from the graphics setting, then choose the second monitor option.

As suspected, Palmer Luckey pretty much confirms that the tracking tech that will be used in DK2/Consumer Version will be similair/same as the Crystal Cove prototype.

Very exciting... Work library has oculus rift for loaning out!

Wow, I got an email today from work saying that our library has an oculus rift that they will be lending out

. Of course, I emailed straight back! I don't know when yet, but I hope to be ORing the alpha soon.

I just found my misplaced oculus rift and have been playing ED - so I have a weeks playtime without and now an hour with...

Magnificent!

The immersion level is x10

The cockpit comes alive, the side panels become intuitive and quickly used, all the other UI elements work well.

Head tracking your opponents during hectic dogfights puts you right in the battle.

Flying around the federation battlecruiser makes your childhood space battle dreams come true.

Don't buy the current oculus rift dev kit but do budget to get the consumer version when it arrives.

Elite and rift are meant for each other.

ditto on that, lets hope the retail rift and ED launch at about the same time, can you imaging the marketing boost it would give to both?

by the looks of things OR have about 5-6 months so lets hope they can pull it all together by then

It's a must purchase has for me now with ED coming to fruition in such spectacular fashion. A "Dangerous Rift" package would sell like thermally inefficient pastries.

Hope that one day they make the helmet in the form of glasses. Because currently, this helmet is huge and horrible. Impossible to wear it for hours (for me of course)
