If dedicated servers with 100's of players I'd give it a go.
All the hacks out there render this pointless unfortunately.
A cursory google will show you that p2p leaves this all wide open (and hackers are a very adaptable breed!) no matter what FD do - which is sad.
In an alternate universe the pvp would be in zones and we could all get on in open mode... Until then i'm staying in solo away from the potential to lose all because of someones curiosity.
And, I think it is YOU that should play a different game because this is designed for an Open World where players can do whatever they want, even PvP.
However, making a fake virtual arena zone where players can fight each other seriously removes the immersion from the game.
So, instead of making pvp matter in the game itself, we're going to have some weird deathmatch instance that will a) have no impact on the game world itself b) take players out of the game itself c) take time from devs that could have been spent on something that's NOT world of tank in space?
Tell me i'm wrong. Please.
Just wait until Frontier start balancing the entire game around PvP builds.
They should just justify this kind of arena in game lore - like a commander vs commander sport activity that you can sign up to or something. Not really that hard.
You can't even "lose all". You don't die, your ship is magically back and all you lose is the insurance cost. Grow a pair.
I'm not against it, I just think there are so many other things they should be focusing on.
