Release Elite Dangerous Market Connector (EDMC)

I'm sure we'd have head about issues by now if any malware had snuck in. Also, as it's only EDMC.exe then unless you actively use that (manually or via Trade Computer Extension) then quarantining/removing just that will have zero impact on your use of the GUI EDMarketConnector.exe.

This is going to keep on happening unless and until all the AV vendors stop tagging us as malware just because:

  1. We use py2exe to build the executables, and its code gets flagged.
  2. Perhaps, in part, because our code does make some connections elsewhere to retrieve files/data (EDSM 'discard' list of events, our killswitches, our appcast file for automatically detecting updates). But then EDMarketConnector.exe would be getting flagged more than EDMC.exe.

Hi,

I have just updated to version 5.1.3 and my downloaded tells me that there is a virus or malware although it scans as clean so I downloaded it anyway.

However, when the windows opens the update does not work and no information regarding the commander is shown.

Also TCE is showing an IO error.

Is the service down please?

Thanks,

Martin

Please see https://github.com/EDCD/EDMarketCon...d-or-executables-flagged-as-malicious-viruses and our issues linked from there.

TCE showing an error will be due to EDMC.exe not being there I suspect. That's how it works, using EDMC's code to do the heavy lifting rather than needing to write its own code for journal reading and CAPI data retrieval.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.)

I solved it, I needed to go into ED and that cured the problem.

Sorry to have been a pain.

Thanks,

Martin

...

The exe is working but when I go into the configuration and browse for the files there are none showing, it is the default location.

Yet when I check the same location, which is the default there are plenty of .log files in there, so I am at a loss to see why they are not being found.
Ah, sorry, I missed that 'update does not work' line initially, focusing on the anti-virus false positive.

'Update' not working is because EDMC doesn't yet know who you are. THAT will be because the most recent Journal file didn't contain a full login to the game. Just running it to the main menu isn't enough.

Careful about the config locations, there are three of them in stock EDMC:
  1. Output tab has a location for output from EDMC. This is related to some of the other options on that tab, and is nothing to do with reading the game journal.
  2. Configuration tab contains the Journal files location, this is the one you need to check. If it's not working and the 'Default' button isn't greyed out, press that.
  3. Plugins tab has an 'Open' button to get to the location of any additional third-party plugins you might install.
So, for things to work you need to check that 'Configuration' one, and ensure it's pointing to the correct location where the game is currently writing an active Journal file (there's also a game bug currently where it sometimes stops writing the file).

Hi,

Great, that fixed it.

Thanks for the help.

Ah, I've just been reminded of this thread.
I never did figure out the Inara balance discrepancy, by the way, although I did just buy a FC and it looks even worse...

Obviously I have something set wrong and not everything is being included in the figures, but I have no idea what. It's making some very pretty jagged lines on the graph though.

The Assets? I believe that's because FDev recently made a change to the Asset total where the FC cost is now included. But, it seems that FDev & INARA are now at odds over this. Currently the FDev daily import includes the FC asset cost and INARA removes it again when you update INARA via the API.

Anyway, not an EDMC (or any other addon) issue.

Thanks; as long as it's not something I've mucked up I guess there's no point in me worrying about it, then.

I updated the program to the latest version 5.1.3. I connected the API keys from INARA and from EDSM.
But when I click on the name of the ship - instead of connecting to the data on Coriolis - it turns out that a black web page opens with a text stating that a failure has occurred. And so - constantly. It is impossible to get to Coriolis. Previously, with the old versions of the program, everything was fine.

Have you checked that you can get to coriolis.io manually, i.e. the website itself is working for you ? Force a refresh (Ctrl-F5) to be sure.

To the website https://coriolis.io / - I log in normally and without errors. But when I try to click on the name of the ship, I get this error message (by using Chrome).

It would be best to open an issue against EDMC on github, and include in it the details from here and also the 'Loadout' event from the game Journal file for the affected session.

This appears to possibly be an issue with either the original Journal loadout, or how we're treating some of the data in it. Specifically trying to undo the encoding complains about:

"ExperimentalEffect_Localised":"\xd0\x91\xd1\x80\xd0\xbe\xd0\xbd\xd0\xb5\xd0\xb1\xd0\xbe\xd0\xb9\xd0\xbd\xd1\x8b\xd0\xb5 \xd0\xb1\xd0\xbe\xd0\xb5\xd0\xb3\xd0\xbe\xd0\xbb\xd0\xbe\xd0\xb2\xd0\xba\xd0\xb8"
