Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 7 Notes

Hello everyone.
First of all, thank you for all the edited things and the hard work.
I don't know if anyone has already written this?
But Dave's Hope is still empty.
We need it urgently for the Gaurdians (FSA) and new players.
I don't want to spoil your party, but I managed to get a Gaurdian FSD Booster (at least I think that's what you're referring to) and other assorted engineered modules without ever visiting Dav's Hope.

The "stuttering every 20 seconds" things didn't happen for me. One settlement had a major 15s stutter on approach, the second did not. Actual leg gameplay was stable FPS wise, though at best with similar FPS as before. No improvement on that front, but it is more stable.

N=2...
Is Elite installed on a HDD or SSD?

I'm getting 10+fps gains in the two large concourses I visit daily. The large ag station and large extraction station - both were 45 fps on average moving around on foot, and now they're 60 with occasional dips to 58.

Here's the same station, same PC, same graphics settings with update 6 on the left, update 7 on the right. I call that a major win.

Also the brief pause when passing through the mailslot seems to have gone?
Count yourself lucky, I'm still getting the same performance in star and surface ports. Update 3 was still the highest FPS I've seen, now it's still at launch values.

Did I miss it or is four person physical multi crew missed in this patch now too? Did I just imagine that this was supposed to be added in patch 6, then 7 and is just stealthily gone? I’m really looking forward to that feature with my friend groups.

patch notes are great and I’m loving the improvements otherwise. Keep up the great work everyone at FD!

I prefer all of the other changes, but this one.... I feel it should be a choice. I actually liked the hold option. Can this not be a setting?
If this is the health pack/recharge etc wheel, it's still hold for me. Checked insight, and it's behavior hasn't changed either.

Fixed jump assist fuel usage so that holding the button and repeatedly tapping it will reach the same height.
This seemed to be a feature, didn't it? Is that correct that the maximum height can be reached by just holding the button?

Unfortunately this looks like a lost feature.
Being able to split the jumps and precisely timing the jump assists to reach bigger heights than a single press of the button seems the skilled ones are rewarded for their skill.
Using a single press to achieve the same thing is really meh :(

That is if I'm not misreading the Patch Notes

I just got a solid 25 FPS again in a surface port, so we're off to a good start.
That's promising (Frop as I don't know what your hardware is... that's good/bad I guess??) it's probably best to see for myself later on. Downloaded already but RL is getting in the way, the cheek of it.

FPS increase is great but I can spot like 3 differences between interiors... Newer ads are all the same, no plant and ugly looking metal on the fence. I can't actually say for real that I like newer version more...
EDIT: so maybe removing plants gave more FPS? :D

When I'm getting 60 fps instead of 45, I don't care if space bunnies ate the space plants.

Also this is an extraction economy, so it's meant to look metal. Part of the station updates.

Well, yet again after playing only for half an hour already noticed couple of really obvious bugs that should be squashed in any normal qa sesion (limpets, stolen tritium) then there is still low frame rates everywhere on foot (yes I know that this update didn't actually focus optimization). There is still close to nothing to do on foot for any commander who reached Elite rank in any ship related categories (low pay for the mission, almost no benefit for the commanders focused on BGS/PP). So it is still a very low performing beta with little to offer for the "veteran" players (and no grinding 20h for a fully modded suit is not gameplay). Not impressed and no hope for future of this game.

Improvements have been made to planetary detail on slopes around Horizons engineers that have their own unique bases.

I might be blind, but I see barely any difference.

I`m confused.

(Some details may seem more pronounced in the latter image due to time of day)

Maybe there was something about new Engineers too. Not too sure.

Between CAS and FSR, which is expected to give the best performance? Better yet, what's the difference between the two in general?
FSR is newer, have an integrated CAS (but no sharpness slide to adjust) and is supposed to have better performances.

However, at 1080p as native resolution, i'm pretty sure in update 5 (still have to try update 7) i was having better visuals and comparable performances using subsapling to 0.85 and CAS, than what i had in Upd6 with FSR Ultraquality (which is subsampling 0.77).

I might remember wrongly, but i've got various indipendent confirmations about it, i will try to actually compare them in Upd7.

However if your native resolution is greather than 1080p FSR should be the better choise.
