LOL how you gonna enforce that when some of us have a 12:1 aspect ratio?

In FE2/FFE + Pioneer i love panning right out just to take in the environment..

In addition to external views...

I would like to be able to purchase a camera ship. No guns or shields but very fast and maneuverable.

The pilot can then put on a visor that presents a clear/no UI view through a camera on the nose.

This would be great for filming things or producing journalistic reports from the front line or whatever.

Not sure but maybe they don't want to do the extra work for damage states but really that is kind of the idea when you want to look at your ship & see what you just lived through lol, has anyone heard if they will do damage states if they decide to do 3thd person view? Thanks for any info.

Actually, I've repeatedly asked for a nose-cam for screenshots.... But why can't we have a mode (CTRL+ALT+what ever) that just removes the cockpit & HUD all togethor. If you then want to video or take a screenshot it's up to you!

I love this idea. We could become space reporters in war zones. Or space National Geographic explorer. That would add much depth.

It would offer a significantly increased forward view by removing HUD and ship's structure, especially in the 3 to 9 o'clock zone....

Fair point... So the worry is people flicking in/out of it to gain some sort of POV advantage? So it's really akin to the concerns about an external view?

So worse case, do a countdown in/out of it for 4-5 seconds, during which time you have no control of ship. Treat is as some sort of "visual transition time" where your visor is transfered/integrated in/out of the nosecam. I'd suggest freelook is also disabled too in that view/mode.

This is not a solution!!! If the option is there, it already breaks immersion.

You can't be serious. Just scroll down the numerous key binding options, the sound options, the graphic options, and tell us again about options that "break immersions", in the same field. More options and possibilities are always a winner.

If all it takes to break your immersion is a mere option that you can chose to use or not, a lot of games in the genre must be unplayable for you.

O-M-G-!

I really cannot fathom this sort of thinking at all. So I'm sorry to be sarcastic, but when you press the ESC key and a menu of options pop up into your field of view shattering any notion the game is reality, do you burst into tears? Do you run off screaming on the edge of a breakdown as your virtual reality world is shattered to pieces?

So if an option can be added to offer an external view (or as just discussed a nose cam) which does/doesn't have a real world explanation, as long as it doesn't break any game mechanics are we really bothered if it breaks some CMDRs immersion? Because if it does, don't use it! Honestly! I'm utterly bemused by some folks!

it's not integral to the game
Not integral?!

Imagine reading a Spiderman cartoon where everything is drawn from Spiderman's point of view. Now imagine how limited the scenery and action scenes would be - and how little you'd see of Spiderman's outfit.

That's what it feels like playing ED at the moment.

I'm calling on FD to ban support for 12:1 aspect ratios! It is unnatural and breaks immersion, and offers situational awareness advantages!

LOL oops should've said "12:3" but even then, i can actually run all 6 of my monitors in a single row... 24:3 aspect!

Only tried this in GTA IV and Arma for now, but it easily gives a 360° wraparound panorama.

But shhh.. don't wanna give anyone nightmares... ;)

DID YOU HEAR THIS FD? HE HAS 360 VIEWS ALREADY! HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY COMPETE???

*Throws pc out of window, sets monitor on fire and runs naked down the local high street with a bag of maltesers*
