It might have helped if we could have tested owning a FC for more than the 1 week (those of us not blessed with 5 billion credit bank balances)
More of these issues may have shown up.
I've not had any real problems myself, so rest of game seems to be working pretty much as before.

Agree with this. When they used to run Betas before, they drastically reduced the in-game prices. Yeah I know they had the Beta Blowout at the end of FC Beta 2, but keeping them at the CR5bn price at all other times really limited the testing that folk could do - hence we are where we are.

If I was your boss at Frontier, whoever is in charge of Elite Dangerous would be looking for a new job,,,,,You're FIRED. This is such a mess, I am suspending playing ED until it is fixed and then I really don't know. I am angry and extremely frustrated.

I agree @Ace Rodrigo. What a shame. Yes, Elite Dangerous is just a game and there are plenty of others we can play in our leisure time.

But for Frontier, this is a business. Botched updates has become normal "to be expected" practice for them, despite Beta test sessions. The main issue is no longer this "Fleet Carrier Update" but in-house management processes, staff programming competence, quality assurance procedure and company reputation in the marketplace as a game developer.

With Elite Dangerous "Odyssey" on the horizon in 2021, what can we expect now? A great game, or another bug fest episode like this?

My carrier just left me behind even though I was docked on it. I set it to jump and it went through the motions, but after completion I was still in the same system, I checked the gal map and it was also at the destination existing in two places at the same time. I undocked from it and then requested docking at which the game crashed. on restart the carrier was gone and I had to fly to the destination to catch it up
I had this happen to me, too..

Turned out the ship I was in also had a separate course plotted to the destination. I think what happened was I'd ordered the jump via the docked ship interface, instead of the RH Panel carrier interface. Ever since, I've been careful to always plot carrier jumps from the RH Panel interface only, and haven't had a repetition of this problem. Also, make sure you use the little 'carrier' button on the interface to order the jump. If you see the normal line to the destination, bouncing from star to star, you've done it wrong.

just looked on steam games and the price for ED has been drastically reduced to £5.99 !!! from £19.99 !! i think its looking bad for the future of ED. very worrying if they carn't give the game away at that price. hope it's not though because i do enjoy my time playing ED ...even with a few issues... so come on fdev don't give up, i sure the community is behind you like i am .... we all want ED to succeed...

I am asking myself in regard of all the bugs I read about and all the issues are posted here and within the issue tracker, how the test setup could be adjusted to prevent the current situation, we're in.
Beside focussing on the FC, a regression test for the 'legacy' parts of the game needs to be done under 'realistic' conditions. The server and IT setup/architecture should mirror the production environment (not 1:1, but if you have several servers for different roles, this needs to be respected). And for sure you need some mechanic to put load / pressure on the system. Best would be by simulation of players / commanders (are there any bots for E : D which could perhaps be used for such purpose?).

But writing my 2 cents I know exactly, that even the best test setup would not find you all the flaws and issues which could occur in reality. But they could be reduced - especially such, which affect nearly all Commanders.

I am really hoping, that FD will hold an internal lessons learned on this episode and - especially, as @FlySwat wrote - with Odyssey on the horizon, take the learnings to the tests of the new DLC.

Fully agree. With the current amount of players, FD needs to wake up and act like a professional IT company. My impression on the QA for the latest update is not the best.
From my point of view, the Team (including the responsible management) has to come together and openly make a Retrospective on this release. Ideally they invite some team external moderator for this and really take the learnings serious and into the next release.

Honestly: I won't buy Odyssey in the first round - I will wait at least 2 weeks and have a close look on the issue tracker and this forum.

Tried now to leave Station - no effect
Leaving and reentering System: no effect
Disconnecting account and System: no effect
Switched language to english and back: no effect

I am frustrated now - will call it a day and hope, it works tomorrow again...

New morning, new try - old result. 😡

Frontier is now owing me 46.190,00 Cr for the fine and ~3.000.000 Cr for the mission. The fine will raise in about 8 hours, when my other missions time out, because the game hinders me from turning them in.
(I know, that it's not that much - but I carried the goods to the right system, I escaped 3 interdictions and I delivered everything!)

Seems that this issue does not affect so much players out there. The issue tracker just notes this issue at 3 or 4 other players as far as I could see.

Nevertheless this issue is annoying and brakes the complete game for me :(
(Luckily my son can still make missions - so I will support him a bit, until this is fixed for me)

Btw. the issue started somewhere after 11.6., 11pm (CEST). Before this, I was able to play totally normal and to turn in every mission. Don't know, what was internally changed at this time - but perhaps it's worth a look (especially, as I could not find any issues related in the issue tracker before this).

Oh, my game is crashing when i'm trying to access commodities market at my FC. It's fine when i'm accessing markets of other guys. I wouldnt even need it, if cargo transfer from ship to FC and back wouldn't be so retardly long. submitted every single crash report, i hope they would fix it...

I won't be buying Odyssey at all after this fiasco. I was very keen to buy a FC after putting in a lot of time to have plenty of overhead after buying one but have deferred. I'll be waiting a lot longer than 2 weeks before I buy one if at all.

I am totally sure it will be another bugfest. One bug in Odyssey is already there: Missing VR Support!

Prior to the patch, I had a fully functional game that I enjoyed immensely.

Then came the patch, and everything was broken. So far, so good, I expected that. Then, on the first day after the "up"grade, Frontier was all over the shop with running updates on what they were doing to fix the hot mess, which was great, at least we felt like they cared and that we were more than just cows to be milked.

Then, radio silence. Not a word. Nothing. And now they're presumably enjoying their "well-earned" weekend, and the hell with us idiot paying clowns.

I'm not impressed.

Hi,
Guys do you have this bug too?
Megaship hacking in delphi (pleiades) at Hercules Class Bulk Cargo Ship KPX-3397 is broken.
I scan the ship with data link to identify subsystems.
Scan the subsystem with both data link and manifest scanner yo get respectively point the place where my hatch limpet breaker will be and the cargo manifest.
Cargo bay opens, and salvages don't move from an inch! They are stucked.
I know at some moments there were some bugs but with the FC i thought that maybe it were fixed.

Some more bugs from today's gameplay:

1) I started the game in Open. After flying about a bit doing things, I set my FC to jump to another system. I then remembered I was in Open so logged out and switched to Private Group (my own); I then undocked from the FC and flew to the same destination as the FC (to get started on my mining in the system). When I arrived at the destination, my carrier had not jumped yet but was already in the system. The jump countdown timer still ran and I then received the jump successful notification.
2) After re-docking at my FC, the Tritium reserves had INCREASED from 813 to 954. The jump was 132.46LY, so the Tritium reserves should have DECREASED to 680.
3) When approached a station in the system, I got an Orange Sidewinder disconnect when leaving supercruise.
4) [MINOR] When docked on the 'surface' of my carrier, and selecting "Outfitting", there is no "please wait" graphic/text.

Again, some comment / acknowledgement on the latest situation with our game would be appreciated.

Again, I hope I get some sort of credit for a) the upkeep whilst the game is so bugged it's frustrating to play, and b) the missions I completed which disappeared.

EDIT: All issues submitted on issue tracker.
