Fleet Carriers - Patch 3 - Known Issues

So am I right in thinking that the last month spent mapping hotspots from Barnards to the guardian sites has been a complete waste of time because all my data is useless as they have all changed?

No, the last hotspot change was at the launch of Fleet Carrier Update - middle of June.
Since then there was no change in hotspots - except for the fact that they really killed the overlaps in the current patch and the hotspots are underperforming

Overlapping Hotspots Commodity Distribution
With Patch 3 we implemented a change that was primarily intended to bring down the effects of multiple overlapping hotspots, especially on rarer commodities (such as Low Temperature Diamonds). We're currently looking at data from the live game to determine the actual impact that it is having and will review this based on our projections. If the data does not meet our expectations we will be making changes accordingly.

Tritium
One of the most noted points of feedback we've seen so far is that the rarity of Tritium has been negatively impacted. We'd like to make it clear that any negative impact on locating and mining Tritium is unintentional and the intention is for Tritium to remain as accessible as it was prior to Patch 3.
My 2 cents:
If you want to mine tritium, go to a Void Opal Hot spot. Or LTD is great too.
You will find EVERYTHING in those hot spots BUT what the hotspots are about.
I went to mine some VOs - the abrasion blast not working aside - I came back with more trit than VOs and LTDs put together. 100t of Trit after an hour of mining in a VO hot spot.

Players with unlimited funds were putting buy orders up too close to the maximum possible sell price, like for 20000 ltds at 1.5mil
Modestly rich players couldn't compete with those prices, and after sucking up all the diamonds those carriers were able to see a profit through sheer volume alone.
A 2bil buffer is probably what most carrier pilots are sitting on so everyone has a better chance of competing. The ultra rich can still pull the same tactic but they can no longer set and forget it.

It will never not be amusing to me that so many near-game-breaking issues with in-game economies often boil down to "capitalism"

maybe next time let some one who has a good intelligence order the implementation of a patch/update
i am getting sick of the highly educated one that orders the updates at the end of the week or just before the hollidays
update/upgrade only in the weekend and preferably late on a sunday that way you guys have a week to fx the mistakes

now allot of us are sitting on our .... waiting and falling a sleep to get some tritium
tbh that tritium suply should have been fxt with a emergency patch

No mention on the nerf causing tritium supply to be under 10 in stations where the owning faction is in blight state! The nerf hammer has gone too far...
No mention of the changes in the patch notes, nor in the known fixes.

was it intended?
was it accidental?
are you now just brushing the change under the rug?

Greetings Commanders,

Thanks for your feedback on the latest patch! We understand that some of the changes had unexpected effects and want to address them:

Here's a suggestion.. why don't you bring the actual coders or the person in charge of coders on here so they can justify how they decided nerfing this as badly as they did was such a great idea.. and what they're going to do to address one of the worst patch nerfs overreaction from Frontier I've seen. (or maybe one of the the most badly implemented unexpected consequences of code "fixes" that caused the overnerf I've seen)

2nd suggestion: roll the patch back until you figure out what you did wrong before you implement it again. Killing an "egg" exploit is one thing.. making it so that hotspots are basically oxymorons are quite another.

Oh.. and fix the abrasion blaster bug please.

You guys gotta step up your testing and coding and decision-making if you expect people to buy Odyssey.

Regards

The salt is strong on this thread/patch. I understand why and I'm a little disappointed there hasn't been a fix yet or, at least, a "we see the problem and there'll be a resolution in a short while".

Mind you, it IS the weekend now...

Frontier only works on weekends to fix things that players can make loads of cash on. Quality of life issues and game killing bugs can wait till next week, or sometime later

Best guess, there's a fairly complex algorithm to determine the yield and dispersal in a single hotspot, an overlapping one, etc, based around the items that should be in the hotspot, but there's one or more decimal points in the wrong place.

The algorithm seems to be now so complex that the developers do not understand it anymore.
Hey FDev, it's time to cleanup de code and put some comments in your sources ! ;)

Err, I'm 54, what does that make me? An old fart I know but I've been playing computer games since the late seventies, Pong does count yes?
Pong only counts if you were playing on the original Atari pong console. My first console was the venerable Atari VCS (Video Computer System). I came into the gaming world a bit late, like 1978, and have been playing computer games since. My first memorable game was the original Ultima series. By the way, I am 64, so I am beyond the old fart range and into ancient :p. Where is the person that was 37 and playing before we were alive? :sneaky:

As a voice in the wilderness I'd just like to say....

My abrasion blaster works fine.
Tritium hotspots are working fine (certainly for subsurface) and my carrier isn't stranded.

Could be that these experiences aren't universal.

I prefer to think of age as levels. I'm almost Level 60

Isn't Community management to do with managing the community, ATM all I see is the community a bit annoyed and the management absent. Please join in the conversation, Even if it is to say "Hey guys, I understand your frustration but......"

I actually feel slightly sorry for the Community Managers (See PR Team).. they have to figure out how to put lipstick on a pig when Fdev's developers or coders come up with stuff like this.
