Give Yamiks an Alpha key!

I just watched a Yamiks YT vid this morning where he advised he received an official response from FD, turning him down when he requested an Alpha key to review Odyssey for his subscribers. Apparently they have limited Alpha keys reserved for their “ core content creators and the press”. He has 101k subscribers and is one of “THE” core content providers! He is not the largest but certainly in the top group. If this doesn’t send up a red flag about FD’s possible lack of confidence in their product I don’t know what does. Give the man a key! Yes he is more critical about the game than other creators but balanced reporting should be promoted.

I agree, Yamiks should absolutely get one. And no, he can't just buy one because he has made his feeling regarding pre-orders very clear.
And as a CORE content creator, his work will promote Frontiers product and therfore entitle him to a key.
Frontier have given virtually no solid info to the community and now, during the Alpha, it will be the community, represented by content creators, that will be providing the info that Frontier should have. As a console peasant, I already have to wait until the end of the year and the YouTube videos these guys are going to release is what I'm waiting for. I appreciate Yamiks for providing a bit of balance to my opinions and in the end i still make up my own mind, but at least a little better informed.
I think this behaviour is shameful and beneath what we expect from Frontier.
Give the man an Alpha key.

Let’s face it: Yamiks is one of the most honest creators out there - he calls it when it’s good and, more importantly, when it’s bad. There are forum dad shills on here who never criticise and would praise FDev if they released a new ship that was basically a yoghurt pot with no hardpoints: creators like Yamiks are necessary as they provide a counterpoint. It looks like honesty doesn’t go down too well though, and criticism - creative or not - isn’t welcome.
Genuinely hope the other content creators refuse to give any feedback on the basis that FDev has basically called them shills who they trust to “say the right thing”.

You said that you only became a fan of him because every other content creator was happy that Frontier had lowered the upkeep. That will include content creators who are often critical of Elite and Frontier. So if you are only a fan of his videos because he's critical then I would think it's fair for me to assume that you wouldn't like the few where he's praised Frontier. Though I am assuming, so...

Being critical of something doesn't necessarily mean tearing it down. There are times when you need someone to step up and go against the grain and that was a time I thought he shined and proved he could do that. I don't agree with everything he says and sometimes I think the majority is right too. Diversity of thought is always needed and I think it's a poor choice for them to exclude him.

I think it's more to do with him being Eastern European, his way of speaking English and accent rather than his demeanor and content quality. FDev don't want to be associated with that, they want coherent content creators who are easy to listen and relate to. Institutional racism of sorts.

Wow you read a lot into a three line message that was reproduced by him in full. Do Frontier have a history of showing bias against Eastern Europeans (or any other specified ethnic grouping) that I'm not aware of? Because on the face of it, that's a ridiculous assertion.

That's a key point really isn't it - I will trust your (or anyone else in the community who will be so kind to share their experience on YT or indeed here on the forums) opinion more than anyone who is making money out of Elite one way or another.

Fair enough. I'm just surprised that someone would specifically watch a Yamiks video in order to actually decide between buy/no-buy.

Ah well, if EDO will be a flop, at least we will know the reason then.

Heh, was just about to post this - are people incapable of making up their own minds without relying on a single Tuber? There will be so much content out there (professional reviews, Streamers, Tubers, Forum posts) we'll be spoilt for choice, including those who are more critical of Elite than others.

Besides - Yamiks will still be one of them, he'll just have to cough up the money for access to it himself (or via donations etc.). It's not like he's going to go on Elite strike LOL.

Was Yamiks invited to Frontier Towers with the other 'important' creators & influencers?
Did Yamiks receive a free Content Creators kit from Frontier (I don't know the answer to this one)
If the answer to both is no, why would they consider him for a free key, if he has not been 'important' enough to them so far.

Tough for him, but perhaps he considers himself more important than Frontier do.
