FYI, that's actually how the servers on Frontier are set up. Mode changes are only affecting who you instance with. You may still be on the same server as someone in Open, even if you are in Solo. There are no dedicated servers to each mode, just the servers changing instancing protocols depending on your login choice.Frontier: Get rid of Solo and PG Modes completely. Those two modes take up two thirds of Frontier's server resources and could be done with Open only.
1) Open, "block all" (Like Solo Mode)
2) Open, "block anyone you like" (Like PG, without griefers and gankers)
3) Open, "block everyone but friends" (Like PG, with just friends)
And that's where you wrong, the same way the people who grind their Annaconda, Corvette or Cutter are. Big or hyper engineered ship /= skill.Play solo or pg, unless you sit in something like a max engineered fdl with gold armor and can afford to lose it.
Yes, a score (Pilots Federation Reputation?) that is increased as you illegally destroy other ships (CMDRs & NPCs) would be the way forwards. And as that score goes up, more and more stations and entire systems deny you access, and the ATR turn up quicker and quicker. And that score (PFR) only dimishes slowly over weeks...
39 pages of discussion and many other similar threads going back some four years, ranging from carebear to dangerous, open to solo and private groups, penalties and sanctions. and all have positive and negative aspects, with none being implemented.
Think about this for one moment, seriously, think about it......

We now have ONE MODE, with "blocks".
Frontier could eliminate the server resources dedicated to those instances and effects on the BGS and Power Play. You now have the BGS being effected by just one mode, regardless of who is being blocked from "your instance".
Anyone notice that Solo also has a block mode or the ability to block someone in Solo. Why is this there. Really, block someone in solo? Thats just a waste of code and server resource. So, my suggestion addresses the same issues as many have requested, but has the benefit of saving Frontier the most valuable resource they have, server resources and maintenance while allowing only one mode of play for the BGS and Power Play.
We just can't find it's heart to drive a stake through it...
I'm impressed that you're all still going at this.
Nothing wrong with popping over to solo to avoid pvp when trying to get some engineeering done. Claiming the only way to not get destroyed by gankers is by avoiding open altogether is way over the top.Except fact that those lamers are waiting for newbs at engineer locations.
Ofc looking for valueable pvp experience. In 3v1 fight.
Greetings, Necromancer. The powers of your kind never cease to amaze.Open doesn't feel bad because of "griefers". Open feels bad because it is bad. Worst game design ever.
