How many of you don't play anymore?

Look at the game's userscore at Metacritic, for example. 6.7 score, based on 1177 ratings right now, of which 767 are positive, 344 are negative, and just 66 are neutral. People either love or hate this game, and while it seems to have more people that love than hate it, given the fact that haters tend to spread their message far wider, the current balance doesn't bode well to the game's image or longevity.
If there is one thing you should learn about the user score on Metacritic, it should be to ignore it. It's wide open to manipulation, and not few reviewers use it just to vent or rage (not unlike this forum). In the special case of ED, there are many 0/10 "reviews" because people were p*ssed about the cut offline mode. Just ask yourself if you think that is a valid review of the whole game.

Hmm a plethora of 10/10 too you forgot to mention, really 10/10!

So... Are you still playing?... ;) :)

I check back a couple times a month on the forum, nothing of interest any more really. It still feels like nothing to do, and as someone else said, i feel like gouging my eyes during trading. the Grind is stupid. And for what??? a dorrito illuminati ship and empty featureless space? This game was more than a dissapointment. for me it was fun and id give it a 7/10 when i first started playing but after 30 hours the fun came to a grinding hault because i realized ive already done everything there is to do in the game.

I see there are a lot of people with precognition skills in this thread writing the game off already and predicting its demise.

The game has been been in development, since release, for just three months and some people want everything delivered on a plate yesterday; there is no end-game in ED as far as I can see and the game is constantly evolving.

I'd like to see this thread in a year or so and see how far ED has progressed. If nothing has changed or the game has gone backwards I'll eat all these words. ;)

At the moment I'm not playing ED 24/7 constantly and I regularly put the game to one side to try something else but ED keeps dragging me back for some reason, maybe it's because it feels to me more than just a regular game and invokes your imagination to an extent.

After seeing plenty of videos of Star Citizen (which does look fantastic and will probably be on my to play list) do you really think FD aren't aware of how that game is shaping up and are going to sit on the laurels and not better ED to compete with it (as well as other similar games in the genre)?

They won't have much choice in the matter if the last 3 x months are anything to go by. Also SC will be a PC game, first and foremost. Which ED quite clearly isn't. No competition wotsoever.

You know the term "confirmation bias"? You should, because apparently you are suffering from it. How has it failed in the press? Reviews are all in the range of 90 to 70 out of 100 and even the "worst" reviews offer a lot of praise:

But they are all reviewing the "potential" of the game, rather than the game itself.

It's like when they gave President Obama a Nobel peace prize after 9 months in office, not because he did anything to deserve it, but because they "had faith" that someday he would...ironically they now say it would be “really nice” if President Barack Obama were to return the prize. :p

Notice even the most positive reviews of Elite mention ALL the criticisms here, they just look to the future when being positive. This game should be sold as an early access, period.

No one would be able to complain about an early access state, and fans of early access could play it as it grew. But now they are pushing through a console version of a game they know is still not ready for prime time.

I stopped a couple of weeks ago when I realised how limited my experience was in the game and also that I was doing it rather than enjoying it. By limited experience I mean that what I was actually doing day to day, whether trading, bounty hunting or exploring was basically repeating the same actions for hours and hours in order to see some numbers change. I'll certainly return to the game but only when I've seen that there's ben an update that makes it more interesting to me. My main focus was to get naval ranks and get to a Fed Dropship. The naval missions were empty and often didn't reflect the increase in rank that I was attaining. There was very little risk / reward in being a naval officer - in fact I didn't feel like a naval officer at all. It was just another minor status change on my right hand screen that really meant absolutely nothing in the overall game.

To clarify then, I'm not really disappointed as such. I get that it's a massive task to develop a game and make it work for everyone. I think I've been spoiled by playing years of Nintendo gold where they introduce a game mechanic and then squeeze every ounce of innovation and interest from it. I feel that ED at the moment is still really a massive tech demo with the beginnings of a 'game' developing. It will be very interesting to see how this develops as a console game.

I'm not playing but am on the forums almost every day, I like to keep up with what's happening because I still believe that given time and and with the right decisions , this game could be incredible.

That's quite a fallacious blanket statement. A couple of the more raving reviews certainly did, but not few of those on the mid and lower range of ratings explicitely stated they reviewed the game as is and in some cases stated their rating would have been higher if the game would have been more complete.

Adding another who's grown tired of it. I stopped playing a month or more ago now. Got pretty bored of doing the exact same thing over and over since the result is always the same, a few more credits. Hearing the recent announcement that this game will also be making its way to consoles as early as this summer, little more than a couple months from now further solidifies my concern that there is not any real intention to add substance to the experience too much further than they have so far. I keep checking in on the forums and updates from time to time but at this point I can't even think of a feature that will pull me back in. It would take a revamp of the entire procedural universe for this game to be what I was hoping it could.

I have been paying since beta. I just stepped into an ASP. Still playing every chance I get. Love the trading and cargo runs. Love the interdiction fights. I have bounty hunted on the side some. I still love this game.

Damn you corrected the typo before I could post :)

I agree. Communication from FD is an abysmal failure. I'm not after dates either, just a general road-map/strategy would do. e.g ."Barring any issues, the upcoming patches will focus on these areas, in order: Multi-player interaction (1.1, 1.2), Mission system, trading experiences, warfare experience, mining mechanics." That way at least, if I were interested in mining, I'll be waiting for a while, and won't be disappointed when each new patch fails to fix my particular issue.

Well formulated. I've been unable to put a finger on what irks me about this project, and when reading this, I realize it's the lack of a road-map to help manage our expectations.
One would assume this ought to be a low cost, high yield thing for FD to provide, and I believe it would reignite faith in a lot of people, me included.

After all, IRL, when I work with clients, they *all* want to know about our own product road-maps and strategy, so they can do proper planning and make informed decisions. In this regard, I don't thing the dynamic between two B2B parties is that much different from what we have here. It's a matter of relationship mgmt, where FD is a supplier that has hopes for continued revenue streams from us the customers. In return it's not unreasonable I think for us to expect some info about what continued commercial and marketing (social) support of E:D and FD would net us.

I think FD is aware, but unfortunately I think that might be why they released the game "unfinished" because they know they have to start making money now because once SC comes out, I think most everyone will migrate to it.

That's just my speculation and guessing. I hope FD proves everyone wrong but when you compare ED to SC..well..there just is no comparison.

I would love for FD to implement some kind of notification for players in these forums that actually own the game. I think we have more trolls then posters. IMO of course:D

Well, there's always the private backers forum, but that's really rather quiet nowadays; make of that what you will.

X Rebirth is a better game by far. Yes I know how incredible this sounds (just check Metacritic), but this is how I feel...

Now there's a fairly damning comment. Maybe I'll try playing it again, I got the free "apology" expansion, but haven't even started it since that downloaded. I'm hoping Limit Theory will be as good as it looks in the dev videos.

You're definitely right that it's not a space sim, but I can just use my imagination that my prison is the galaxy, and the inmates are ships..... ?

So when they start dinging tunnels, are those hyperspace jumps? I can totally see the yard fights as warzones though :)
