PvP How????

I know. But you say you want to invest in weapons. Sure, if you need them for something, go and invest in them. You can pop some funny NPCs that interdict you with them. But don't use them in the scenario we are talking about.
 
I am just wondering what I mods I could do to my Cutter to do that kind of damage.
That would eat through my A6 shield and 5 shield boosters, in a few seconds, and then
strip my hull. I have been up against 3 npcs hunting me, and I lasted longer than that.
And my ship is a vanilla build. No mods YET.

If I had to guess it was pa's. not sure of the mod
 
Hey OP, did you see any of these icons on your HUD (lower right)? That might help us figure out what Engineering experimental effects might be at play. Please note that thermal attack, impulse attack, internal damage, and hull breach can be caused by vanilla weapons as well.

I want to get one thing clear though, I am not upset at being blown up.
I just want to know how I can equip myself in a similar manner.

Is my build, I find myself able to escape most players except enemy Cutters/Clippers or wings. I'll generally avoid these in supercruise using emergency stops or whatever else rather than getting to the interdiction mini-game.


If I were to take it into a community goal or other high "player" activity area I would knock the thrusters up to 7A or 8A and do the following:
Swap out 1 chaff and 2 boosters for point defence.

Shield - Thermal resistance
Boosters - Resistance mods + maybe 2x Heavy Duty in there
Thruster mods - Clean Drive 5 or Dirty Drive 5 will give you a bit more breathing room and ability to get out taking less damage to shields
Military Armour with kinetic resistance.

Compared Shields only go up 500mj but remember we've removed 2 boosters and the resistances are tons better. Speed is an immense 100m/s+ difference and the jump range laden only drops 3ly.
I'd be fairly comfy taking the 2nd build into a CG in open, If I had too many issues I'd start adding the military slots in with either SCBs or Module/Hull packages.
 
Are you sure you weren't interdicted by another Cutter? That's really the only thing that should have kept you from leaving if you low waked.

With full pips to sys, even a 550-700mj shield should hold up fairly well in the short time it takes to cool down and charge FSD.

Submit to interdictions before you lose them. The FSD cooldown is considerably longer if you lose instead of submit.
 
Upload your log files and link them here I will see if there is anything of value in them but from the sounds of it you where hit with Double Shot fragment cannons. these with the right build, a build I made popular due it its amount of DPS it can output at well over 1200 DPS. enough to down any big ship given enough time and reloads.

Reading through this thread its clear the usual PVE guys have turned up to voice their discontent with us PVP folk, I simple ask they climb back into the PVE hole they came from... this is the PVP section of the forum, if all you have are insults keep them to yourself.

The long and short of it is you can't. You have a Trade Cutter. Once you start putting PA's, Rail Guns, 8A Prismatic's, Shield Boosters, Shield Cell Banks, and so on, on it your jump range is crap and its no longer a trade vessel. I have a trade Cutter. It has no weapons only defense, no shields but when I hit a button it goes cold and mines drop and a few other tricks. Yesterday there were some players in my system reeking havoc. I parked it because after all it's a trade vessel.

Its all about math.

Damage points vs defence points combined with resistance.

My frag fas has 3000 damage points if I empty the 3 shots before reloading.

Your A6 shields have 1000points, assuming negative resistsnce to thermal, makes them around 700 points.

Your stock hull in a cutter has what, 500 points integrity?

Do the math, you lasting 11sec is actually an archievement.
 
OP I guess my point is if you want a Cutter that can escape a PvP Clipper that easy to help you with. If you want your Cutter to do what that Clipper did to you that is different thing all together and the community can help you with that. You need to decide what you want to do with your Cutter, be specific and the community will help you with that.

The build I posted will provide ample time to eacape without compromising your cargo capacity too much, or spending too much money. You will get more MJ of protection from a 6C biweave and 8b and 5b(x2) shield cell banks. You can play with the values in the coriolis link I posted if you like.

I would caution that this strategy assumes that you are firing two cell banks per heat sink.
