I can’t take it anymore!

This is where player Common sense and choices come in. Just like Trade missions or Combat Missions with that OP NPC that you can't beat. What do you do? Either try to beat them and die or discard. But in this case, if it too far. Then Discard.

You have a choice. So stop ignoring the fact you have those choices. It might not be what you want. But it part of the gameplay. If you want everything spoon-fed to you on a silver spoon then Elite Dangerous is not for you.
I don’t understand how this is wanting things spoon-fed.

Discarding as punishment for not having gone through a punitively long process of preventative steps and prior option cullings... is not a fun gameplay choice...

Weird that.

I know you won’t adapt to this perspective, as you’ve repeated your particular memes on this board for years. You enjoy sucking on this particular empty spoon. Go you.

Others don’t though. And it’s not an intellect thing. It’s not a laziness thing. It’s a personal, subjective, fun thing.

PS sucking on empty spoons for hours is odd ;)

Ahh yes. ‘Rejecting all systems neighbouring systems that might bore you to death’, and ‘flying in a straight line for a very long time’. Practically the dictionary definitions of ‘Elite’ and ‘Dangerous’...
Actually, it's not a straight line. You need to drop under the orbital plane to get to max supercruise asap, so it's a parabola. I think I've figured out why you're not getting anywhere fast in supercruise.... 🤦‍♂️

It's not hours tho, it's minutes. Took me only 7 mins to get to a distant planet this am, 34Kls away. Can players like yourself not handle 7 mins in supercruise? I would be very worried if the answer to that question is "yes".... 😯

less time in super cruise means less time reading condescending posts on the forums
Sorry, Big Mike, I certainly didn't mean to be condescending. But if you've been in the game over a year then you do at least tolerate the supercruise times even if you wish they were shorter. It's the (ex)players who don't that I would think Frontier will be fretting over..

Hmmm - given the relative distances between stars in relation to relativistic speeds - (which ED already defies), its ok as it is. Its not an arcade game.
That's debatable, but yeah, would prefer it not become more of an arcade game.

Not that I don't like arcade games too. Just not why I fancy this game with its galactic sim and so on.

If you're still curving your flight once out of the orbital plane, it is you who is taking too long sunshine...

It's not a question of ability. It's a question of desire.

Do I want to have 5 minutes+ of dead time where no meaningful input is required in my computer game?

The answer is: No :)

Not by that, but by introducing a semi-automatic supercruise approach mechanic.
It's mainly the same as with ship/module transfer times.
If you ask the player base whether they want realism, you get a resounding 'yes', but then CMDRs realize what they asked for and start to moan 'oh crap, this is so dull'.
Anyone would think "the playerbase" was not an individual but a group each with their own preferences.
#i voted no to fast travel and stand by it ;)

Sunshine is a good movie. But its running time is more than 5 mins, so you should avoid trying to watch it 😃

SC speeds are fine, acceleration and deceleration could use some tweaks though. I never liked it that the last 10% of your trip take up 90% of the time.
One of my favorite uses of the SA is beating the "Six Seconds Of Eternity" during station approach. Fly full speed towards a station until the FIVE second mark, then drop to the blue (turning on SA), and it makes a world of difference. It's also pretty cool to drop out right on top of a station instead of 8k away. Sometimes I even go through the station, Buckaroo Banzai style!

For me supercruise travel is the most boring part of this game and the main reason why I took a long break from this game.
On a 7 min trip you can do nothing meaningful in the game. You can't walk on your ship and check the engines, you can't communicate with groups in the system to accept or decline missions, you can't manage your fleet, etc ... You can't even scan the system! Obviously, because the scanner mode wasn't programmed to work while moving, so you have to stand still. That has nothing to do with realism, just with the restrictions of a game.
And if you have little playing time per day, 7 minutes can be a significant chunk.

Never been to Hutton Orbital, haven't you? ;)

7 min. sc...almost instant arrival in the vastness of deep space.
"We" needed 72h to reach the moon. 300 days to reach mars with optimal parameters. 10 years to reach Jupiter...shall I go on?

Sure. But I guess they have things to do while travelling ... They are not staring at a countdown doing nothing else :)
I am not in general against long travel times in ED. But I want to do something meaningful in the game during the voyage.

In fact for probes they mostly travel down with most systems closed down. And at manned missions after setting up rotation and stuff there really was not much to do before slow down burn. Or to be accurate not much really necessary to do.

I fully support OP. 99% of game time is travel and IMO it has nothing to do with "space is big" feeling, more like "space is tedious".
