Because you dont deserve it. If you can recall, I did spend time and energy on a proposal that would help people who dont like the FSS. I am absolutely for any solution that would help normal people have more fun. But spamming whiners who feel their opinion is so much more important than those of anyone else that they feel compelled to spam their single opinion every single day, every week: they dont deserve any support. Where at first people were sympathetic, they then became indifferent. And eventually it flips to amusement.
So: the FSS is fun. I am very happy it is in the game.

With the greatest respect to all posters and their ideas, nobody asked for a proposal. Most of what i have seen is unlikely or impossible and either way would need time. I cant speak for others but i wanted the old ADS patched back in as a module. In whatever form makes people happy so long as i can then continue blazing my trail. Sinse that hasnt happened i guess im going to have to wait and see if player numbers will drop or not and if that will sway FD.
BTW. All the time i spend posting on here is time i really wish i was spending in game.

Right on cue, here I am to prove you wrong. I left Shinrarta on update day, nearly 7 weeks ago, on a voyage to the edge of the galaxy, on a purely Explorational trip, to circumnavigate the edge of the galaxy. A trip I would NOT have undertaken with the ADS because the ADS method of Exploration was terrible and ruined my fun. Since I am sombody, not nobody, your belief is thereby proven incorrect.
As exhibit B, I give you the DW2 event, one consisting of over 10,000 players, also on long-range exploration missions. Now I will not claim they are all fans of the FSS on anyone's behalf, but they did, in fact, go on such a trip, and are also not nobody, but somebody, and not an insignificant amount of somebody.
So while I will not tell you what to or not to believe, I can and will tell you that your belief is as incorrect as believing my cat is the messiah. Not that this will somehow bring you into the light and joy that is the FSS any more than the latest advances in science will bring the Amish into the 21st century, but time itself has not stopping passing for them either.
So you and the rest of the Elite: Amish are free to make as much or as little noise as you like, while the rest of us, and I believe "us" to be an overwhelming majority, will keep regarding you as quaint anachronisms longing for the past.

The Elite: Amish prefer the ADS, prefer less data with their scans, prefer to fly 1000's of light seconds to see that a ball of ice really is a ball of ice, while the rest of us prefer to have our data with our scans, not have to fly to the butt-end of a system to a planet 1.5 Huttons from where we entered, to make that same determination, and wish for the last 120 minutes of our lives back? I mean, really, isn't that exactly what this all comes down to?

Here's the thing though - I've not been arguing against you (both) liking the FSS. I accept that you do, and I even understand why. Instead, I've spent the vast majority of my time explaining WHY I don't like it, and discussing the many suggestions for ways in which FDev could change things to suit both camps. That's a lot more productive (assuming FDev are listening) than calling people names and telling them that their personal preferences are wrong or that they're wasting their time.
So yeah, this thread is 98% pointless, but I'm not the one making it so.

As i said, all the antis can do is "no it isnt" eg, the FSS is terrible and ruined my fun. No it isnt you are a luddite. Why cant you be kind and support us? Everybody should be free to blaze their own trail no? You wouldnt even be able to tell the difference between a ship with one or the other way of scanning so why do you care?
Don't get me wrong, in the Beta I said (and still think) it would be better if the FSS was an additional tool built-in to a (perhaps simplified) disco scanner.
What I am saying is that after nearly three thousand posts, over 180 pages, people are still deluding themselves if they think that a small number of people unwilling to adapt to the system which has been implemented will make any difference to Frontier's approach.
BTW - Luddite - "a person opposed to new technology or ways of working" - so yes it is a particularly apposite epithet (I am not intending it as an insult in case people think that).

BTW i was told by frontier support staff to post in suggestions, altho you soon managed to make a circus out of that thread and now its sank safely out of sight. Shouting people down and pushing threads off the forums. Thats why we need this one. Yep. Same here. Last night i was buggying around for what turned out to be about 40 mins in the end.. had to get to the bottom of the creator or bust..
Elite is a barely strung together collection of refined mechanics. Its almost like unix / linux in that sense.. you build a solution (or experience in elites case) based on the sum of its parts, and because each individual part is perfect for what it does, the end solution itself turns out elegant because of the ingredients.
The fss is the first gameplay experience they've built without any depth. Its rewards obsessed and has nothing else going for it.
And before the nutters chime in.. the people with issue are the people who had more going on with prior exploration than just pressing the honk.. obviously the great majority never arrived to that state.

One of the most ridiculous things I have read on here for a while.
Well that certainly deserves a reply, it makes sense and thanks for the response:
- I really don't like the way that the scanners take you out of the cockpit, especially as someone that plays exclusively in VR but I find the new system so much better overall that it is the lesser of two evils.
- If someone has been to a system and scanned it then taken the data back and uploaded it universal cartographics it makes sense that everyone can see it. Without that what is the point of exploring.... the old system made no sense.
- If for some exploration is purely about flying their ship they can just not honk at all and use the really old parallax and get close method.
- For people trying to find unique system configurations (which isn't something I've ever tried to do like you have explained) I can't see a way around that other than if the honk populated the Orery map only and only with bodies, their positions and orbits. That way the real detail would still be a mystery without the FSS but you could tell if there was something that might float your boat.
I find the exploration changes have made it much better. It's not perfect, I'd like all the FSS and DSS stuff to be on a curved screen like the station interface (for example) but the way it all works I really like... including the radio tuning.

There is repetition and there is repetition,
if the original system was repetitive the new FSS system is the same level of repetitive at least to the power of 3. Adding mechanics to a repetitive activity does not fix repetition, often it only makes it worse.
IMO the original system was only repetitive for certain play styles, the FSS is repetitive for everyone essentially. It adds unjustifiable grind and is poorly implemented overall.

How is it one thousand times more repetitive? When you jump into a system does it happen one thousand times or do you have to jump one thousand times more often to do the same thing?
