Ships Imperial Courier

My only concern with this is the empire rank needed to get it. I already have the cash reserves to get it, but I have no rank in any faction yet. I am pretty bad at that.

Don't worry I am too, last night I played for an hour and got the first 2 out of the 3 ranks, both simple delivery missions, its not hard :)

8 mill in 4 hours fir a newbie? In a stock Sidewinder? Forgive my incredulity but that seems unlikely.
Yes, this number is somewhat too high. Actual newbie can spend 4 hours in reading guides or doing pointless things of find a friend who can back him.
But once he entered RES he could do somewhat about 200-300k per hour in his sidewinder, and when he get a cobra and some reflexes as well, he can hit 2mil.

(This scenario obviously ecluded the newbies who do not want a combat efficient ship ASAP)

My friend got 700k from me then 2 days (or 3? too many time elapsed) later he bought an E-kitted vulture. he spend about 2 hours per day. Then what is the (non aesthetic) point of the I.Courier?

People say that the cobra is favored somehow, but actually the cobra is total crap. It is a multi role ship that specializes in dropping its shields and fleeing.

The the courier at 2Mil will hit as hard (soft?) as a Cobra but likely with better topside hard point placement (like a Vulture). I suspect that will be its niche, as a cheaper, slightly squishier, weaker, and faster version of the Vulture.

So it costs many times more than a cobra... but seems to be equal or lesser to it? Yawn. I will keep my vulture the hard point size makes so much difference. Unless this thing can fire 3 medium beams for 2 days solid im not shure this ship is relevant to me, hell im not shure evwn of I started again that I would bother.. 2 mill is peanuts I could get that in a day super dissapointed :(

I will w8 till I can try it out for final judgement but the sparkle has left my eyes

I gotta be honest, I'm not very impressed by the scraps we got today about this ship. Only 3 medium hard points, I'm hoping it can load a decent power distributor, and the frame shift drive can be upgraded to a decent jump range. Maybe I've just been spoiled by the Vulture.

Initially I thought "courier" would mean a large trade ship, larger than the Clipper.

Finally, as a sneak peek on one of the two new ships, the base Imperial Courier is a reasonably quick ship (Speed 277) with a modest jump distance of 7.81 light years. It costs just over twice as much as the Lakon Type 6. It has three medium hardpoints with 4 utility hardpoints and as standard 12 tonnes cargo capacity.

i think im gonna throw up!

to add insult to injury of that god awful redesign exterior they now throw this on us?

my expectations on specs would have been the following:

"the base Imperial Courier is a reasonably quick ship (Speed 310) with a modest jump distance of 9.81 light years. It costs just over twice as much as the Lakon Asp. It has one Large hardpoint and 2 Medium Hardpoints with 5 utility hardpoints and as standard 25 tonnes cargo capacity. its roughly slightly smaller than a type 7 transport but due to its unique retracting nacells can take advantage of smaller pads for its primary role as fast courier vessel, yet is versitile when upgraded to be the ship of choice for alll round imperial pilots for combat, exploration and modest trading"

NOW if it had the above specs id actually consider owning one.. at the present though i think i may as well save up for either the clipper again, or plow on to a Fer De Lance or Python.

as one of the most Iconic ships from Elite 2 this is a stupid redesign and the current specs are frankly insulting.

To all complainers; at least the Empire weenies are getting another faction specific ship, so there's that.
We Fed-heads are still stuck with only the Dropship.

till the corvette comes out! wich is on par with the python or anaconda by all accounts..

I think the corvette, as the only large combat-specific ship will be really badass and definitely better at fighting than the multi-role Python or 'Conda.

Edit:
Imo the initial jump range of the courier is too low and it's slower than the clipper?!

well there really hasnt much been said on the corvette im just echoing speculation based on the picture we saw and the thoughts we all had about it.

as for the couriers jump range i agree but lets keep in mind that what we know is the BASE stats.. we dont know what size modules it carries as yet for FSD etc so it could be increased over time. nonetheless i prefer my stats from my prior post to the ones we saw in the dev blog (it makes the courier a nice imperial inbetweener to the Vulture and the clipper with that layout, and a good combat vessel for imp pilots not wanting to save up for the FurDelance.

it equally would be a good imperial counterpoint to the Vulture itself with those specs.

I'm starting to think that its base components are the same as the cobra. But on a heavier ship. Think an ASP with class 4E components. If you make an ASP in the shipyard like that it's base jump range is suddenly the same as the courier.

Which means that if you can upgrade the Couriers FSD to a class 5 it'll either have the same or higher jump range than an asp.

I'm at the task saving up money to upgrade this thing to the maximum! The Emperor protects, but it never hurts to be prepared! :)
