Is anyone else finding themselves playing the game much less since Arx came in?

I hear tactical ice looks amazing on anything saud kruger or imperial, good choice.
Am thinking Graphite for the Vette or Conda instead;)

Nah, I'll probably use it on the Viper Mk4 again. It's my Core Miner right now, so much more fun than with a bigger ship, and because its hold is full after two Cores, I won't get bored with the activity either.

Edit: Hope I didn't hit a nerve with that comment Kenneth! Sorry:)

About the same amount. In a way the game has always placed some value on your actions and play in regard to how many credits you earn. I mainly explore which at one point was woefully rewarded but the result had no impact on my wish to play.

Nope, it doesn't, but if you read these forums, you'd swear it was a majpr gameplay mechanic.

I've not changed how much I play or my playstyle at all, but I also don't feel any need to ensure I cap out every week and I sure don't feel cheated if I don't - like some people claim to.

yes indeed, you nailed what actually changed: there's now 'free' stuff to grind. twisted how our minds are wired ...

Arx has not increased or decreased play time..
Real life and other titles has as always effected play time...
But Ive noticed a side effect in the functions of other peoples game play after arx... collecting mats and Winning a CZ that shows up on Web sites (inara or EDDB) as the nearest Empire war or civil war is happening more offen even when I don't play ... before it was very rare for any CZ im getting mats in to have any actions if I did not play...
This is nolonger the case the CZ I go into are now continuing the battle after Because people are using them to get arx...

I knew it.. Someone was going to make me point out the problem with ARX is with the players, not the game...

well played! 👍

actually, not much blame going on for an arx thread? from testimonials some do play less, some do grind more. it seems that this subtle change has had an impact after all. we're just a sociological experiment!

So far it looks like it is just me.

Well it could be a coincidence that I have "gone cold" for the moment. However, I still suspect it is a reaction to the perception that the game now evaluates / values / critiques what I am up to each session and I am just subconsciously bridling at that.

(BTW - I have no interest in earning Arx, free 20p a week isn't motivational, so it isn't the actual amounts.)

For me it predates ARX. I would say shortly after they started adding the bigger copy/paste unbalanced goids that require synthesis and SLFs to stand a chance. The deep core mining brought me back for a bit...it IS cool, but nothing has been added to the game in a while that has managed to engage me in a long term. Just seems like FDev is determined to take this game in a direction I’m not going to follow.

My main account tends to max out after 2 or 3 sessions, my alt rarely does, both have a 'healthy' paid-for Arx balance meaning that, although the balance goes up, it is not as noticable had it been growing from nothing. But the 'freebies' are always welcome!

I dislike the arx thing, and may not buy another thing from the store because of it, but my less frequent gameplay is more attributed to the content and quality (or distinct lack thereof) of recent releases more than anything. My enthusiasm started waning after I had to learn the new scanner and has been beaten further down by all the screwy releases of late.

The more time and effort they waste (IMO) on multi-player content (and the continued breakage of the core game because of it) has me becoming more and more frustrated with the overall progress and direction of this game.

But other than that, it's all good. ;)

And this post brings up another issue I find common, but don't understand.. Why should a game be balanced? I see many posts on many different games all complaining that a game is 'unbalanced'.. So what? Life doesn't come with a hard-coded balancer, why should a large scale game involving combat?

I came back playing ED after a couple months just before the September update.
Successively I wasn't able to play the game for a couple weeks because it was broken on Xbox.
Now that they've acceptably fixed the game I've picked up where I left off and play almost every day.
Arx doesn't have any influence on my gaming time and it never will, I play to have fun, not to earn a couple dimes per week.

I don't see how a virtual currency and some vanity items in a new store would influence one's time to play.
The game itself hasn't changed a bit by the introduction of Arghs, except for the bugs I mean.

Play about the same.
I generally fly BMS or DCS and pop into Elite for some easy / relaxing arcade flying. Do some missions or mining then a Rez site or CZ or two.
Arx doesn't come into it. I think I have about 50'ish.
