In my experience, blocking just doesn't work. I only have one person on my list because they literally (literally literally, not gamer literally) fill local chat with eff aye gees and and see you next tuesdays, etc. He can reliably drop into my empty instance. Does literally literally nothing except block text.

May want to nip over to Frontier support, as there is clearly something wrong there.

I was wondering when this topic would be raised again. It is getting less frequent but it's almost calming to know it's still a thing.

This will now go on like this:

0. Usually "we" assume it's a fake account doing a troll post but the maount of reputation and join date says otherwise.
1. A post is made.
2. People will state the obvious every mind wit haccess to common sense can realize.
3. Lack of understanding leads to stating obvious and overly repetetive arguments.
4. Reference to past posts/threads and hotel california OvPvS megathreads
5. Mods will block this eventually as there is nothing more to say except:

You have the right to choose the mode of your desire with all consequences and effects. It is a waste of time judging anyone for making such a decision. However, be aware of your decisions and most importantly that you have absolutely no control beyond that decision regarding this kind of event.
Or in a more direct approach:

Solo: Sure, go ahead. Don't mind, it really is okay.
Private: Have friends? Great! We all like playing with friends. I do it too.
Open: All of them? Sure but remember, *all* of them. Yes here it comes ... git gud. And please don't complain as it is 100% your decision and repsonsibility that led to this moment. Also no, FDev doesn't care (anymore) to comment on that.

Last but not least: Fully G5 engineered ships with reactive instead of lightweight armor might be a good start. But no amount of hitpoints wil lsave you from a lack of piloting skills, whic hare required, especially in big ships. IN CASE you are interested, I recommend hazzmango's and Rinzler's videos for general advice. If not, you don't have to. But let me also give you one last advice. Doing forum posts will certainly not help avoiding a rebuy screen.

Engineered lightweight alloys - grade 5 Heavy Duty. So not standard LWA. It could only have been frags - extremely short range - likely sitting directly above & behind the pad as it raised into position - so absolutely no chance to see them. Brave brave sir robin...etc. It was at an Engineer's base too - are they anarchy / no security?

Yeah, some ganker. I had a similar ambush done to me at an engineer base too but it was because I stupidly left my ship floating after I took off and left the computer as I went for a bathroom break. But I'm surprised the griefer waited for you right outside the landing bay. He should have been targeted by the base for termination instantly if he attacked you that close. Maybe he could have planned to log out right after he blasted you as these psycho griefer trolls are often CL cheaters themselves when they're losing.

Or, like with most unobservant players, he might have just followed OP out of the exclusion zone... fifty meters behind him... with hardpoints deployed... big hollow triangle right behind him on the sensors... and OP just sat there oblivious to it the whole time.

Well, until he went "pop", that is.

Even though I'm on his friends list, Piper caught me today at Tod's. Did the right thing... hopped off the pad and started looking for me.

We had a super fun fight. I lost.

You people really should embrace Open and PvP more. It's a blast.

Seriously.

The hand-wringing and indignation is totally over the top.

"OMG! I can't bEE-lieve someone 'sploded me in a space ship 'splodey game!!!"

If you're really averse to blowing up like I am, I highly recommend learning how to observe the situation.

Had I not kept my eyes on the swivel, that bounty hunter in his Cutter would have eaten my Cobra for supper.

He didn't count on me keeping only one eye on the cargo floating around...

This is why I recommend the Cobra so much. It is the ultimate ship for Open IMO. Great cargo, decent fighter, good range, but everything is delightfully average meaning you always face a challenge.
