Lego Asp Scout (UCS minifig 1:96ish scale) update

Mini update: the hard stuff! Angles and outer plating design. None of this is colour matched or final, but structurally is 'there':

The medium hardpoint hatch works and has its own bay to retract into.

The model now is wider than a standard fitting door :/
What a whopper!

Great work mate, you've absolutely nailed the scale and doing really well to keep it in some sort of budget.
These things really escalate and you can end paying a small fortune for your plastic crack - I've had to have "the conversation" with my mrs after she found out how much I've spent on classic space monorail and I spent a couple of hours today trying to design out stupidly expensive, 40 year old colours & parts from my moonbase.

Ref swooshing, me and some friends decided years ago it was best to swoosh naked (obviously privately, not all together) - I tried it recently after a couple of beers and smashed my 928 in to a door frame, showering my naked body in 40 year old lego bricks...
...
...
...I frequently remember that moment.

I'm imagining the conversation with my wife:

Sat in my pants, snorting lines of 1 x 1 tiles like cocaine building the Scout

Wife bursts into the room, shocked.

"What are these bills? WHERE ARE THEY FROM? Its bloody pron isn't it! Who the hell is "Legofinder89"?

"Er..."

"So how much do you spend on these bloody women then? Eh? EH? Or is it gambling? I knew it!"

"I spent it all on Lego.. I'm so sorry" sobs

With a healthy obsession into 90's Paradisa sets it can be both

Shouting out stuff like "3940.. in old grey" when your talking in your sleep results in tricky conversations in the morning.

Small update:

First up, thanks to @Rat Catcher for donating a (light years) better camera for me to take pictures with- while I fumble like a monkey trying to get things right, here are some test progress shots:

First the interior half with greeble details (with an inset photo in focus :D ). Can you spot which Lego is from nearly thirty five years ago?

And me blocking in the rear (and a comparison with the 'real' thing)- EDs artists don't make it easy:

Holy poop! That thing is big!!
I was going to buy myself the parts for the Cutter i modelles up a while ago as a holiday present... but forgot how much prices skyrocket this time of year so ill be waiting a few months.

I'd say that I'm about 65% done- the main structure and insides are done, its the outer panels and greebles now (as well as replacing some sections with different colours). I just hope I get some Lego for Xmas :D

To tide over waiting for Odyssey I'm going full dad and making a big Minifig scale ED ship- the much er...loved Asp Scout. My aim is to finish it before EDO comes out so I can take my time. The camera is a bit naff too, so apologies for the quality.

The objective is to have it packed with detail- so far its free standing on fully retractable landing gear, has a working cargo scoop, rear ramp and has an SRV bay that can accommodate a small SRV. Both cockpits are almost to size- the ship is bang on Nanofig / microfig scale (whatever they are called) but I decided to do a halfway house 'best fit' because the smaller figures are a bit naff. Eventually I want upper corridors and rooms, although the 'lower deck' is almost there (i.e. a corridor between the lower cockpit, SRV bay, cargo hatch and rear hatch).

I'm not too keen on EDs interior designs so I'm taking influences from films like Alien and industrial machinery / current engineering too. Its also a challenge making such a large model robust enough to be free standing as its getting chonky :D

I'm a stickler for perfection, so I tend to refactor the details and I might be some time....plenty of opportunity for FD to do those Powerplay changes eh, eh? :D

logs onto BrickLink

can you please make some small seismic charges for it, just to keep the dream alive?
