Lego Asp Scout (UCS minifig 1:96ish scale) update

What do the medium ones look like, for reference?
latest

like that but in the small slot :p

That's looking fantastic!
The mix of old and new grey along with the old bits gives a great patina to the ship. (y)

I recently had some old grey bricks arrive as "freebie extras" with some monorail track and I've never seen such terrible condition - they look like they've passed through a child in the late 1970's!
I know times were tough then but I never actually ate the bricks for dinner (although I've got some with my little bro's blood on from when we made guns).

I know what you mean, I bought a load of castle parts for the model and I think the guy who sold them too me had buried them in his garden they were so dirty :D

I'm trying to mismatch greys a bit (and use old sunshine yellow with the new yellower yellow and the deeper orange yellow) to break things up. Its also funny that the colours I'm currently using are space lego. Its per-ordained!

How much longer do you think it will take you mate? Which I realize isn't an easy question for a Lego fan to answer!

It depends on how much Lego I have to finish it :D I could have made the whole thing in about a month if I had everything to hand, but I've had to build up my lego hoard from scratch and also relearn the 'new' lego (which is not quite compatible with the old).

This build has been me really iterating over and over, learning, rebuilding, testing and just experimenting. Once I have figured out the hard part of getting it all looking crisp and 'real' I can mirror the other half very quickly, and once I've done that I'll start doing dioramas and scenes inside the ship.

Understood mate, totally. I remember you saying before about getting extra parts. I was thinking if you were anything like you seem with Lego (compliment), then you'd keep rebuilding bits here and there until it was perfect! I guess weight will be a factor too. I have a lot of admiration and respect for you and your model dude!

I thought these models were designed in a lego design tool that's online (in general for these homebrew projects) so that you didn't have to guess-and-check in real life first.

or something like this: https://www.leocad.org/

I could have done, but for me it would not have been as much fun- plus at the size I'm building Lego gets flimsy and its easier to design out those problems in real life.

OP, that is brilliant! Thank you for sharing and good luck with the rest of the build. :)

Pssst: Will you have it completed before we have VR in Odyssey? :D :D
