Lego Asp Scout (UCS minifig 1:96ish scale) update

Very impressive. I built a much smaller scale Lego Asp last year but I was never happy with it, the angles are tough to get right. I'd love to build a large scale version like you are but I don't have enough Lego to do it, I'd need to Bricklink a LOT of bricks!!!

Thats the other thing, making it in a way thats economical with bricks- so far I'm into about 5 - 7K. And I'm not settling for anything less than perfection with the angles.

But will it fit the CG engineered FSD before you test fly?

That is looking really good!
Keep up the good work - and keep us all posted on progress too!

Cheers! Its fun to build because its so difficult. The front panels also hinge back and you can see the deck below it too. Although its hard thanks to the camera lens see the middle and upper decks as well. In the bottom centre of the image there is a secure storage area too with a sliding bulkhead, (you can see the removable cover for this part to the left with the radar dish top).

@Rubbernuke - that really does seem to be a labour of love - if you weren't in foreign parts I'd have offered you the loan of a nice DSLR until the project is finished... That'll teach you to abandon good ol' blighty... (or is it me for staying... Italy was far nicer weather in Winter...)

Cheers! I'll find a way to photograph it properly when its done. I have to make a proper lighting stage for it though, no way I'm making this and then using a bedsheet as a backdrop :D

Is your next project a to-scale Coriolis Starport, complete with "liftable lid" so you can see all the inside detailing? Retractable landing pads too? Radio-controlled drones in hte shape of Cutters and Beluga's coming and going?

My next project will be smaller :D I could quite easily build Asp X and smaller in the same scale (CM3 /4, T-6 etc) and I might do that.

Saying that, I do have to make some sort of landing pad......logs onto Bricklink

Incredible. Allow me to formulate my praise like this:

Boy, I'm happy this is not a set commerciably available, 'cause I'd immediately jump into my car and race to the nearest shop to get it, even if I had to sell both my kidneys to pay for it. :)

Seriously, I'm overawed. I did lots of things in my time with Lego, but one of my many deficiencies is that I am seriously challenged as far as three-dimensional thinking is concerned (confirmed by tests. Doesn't help when driving, or parking o_O).

A man can dream, and my dream is that nice, detailed models (such as yours -- hint, hint (Lego does accept models submitted by talented individuals)) become available for those of us who don't have the skills, let alone the ingenuity*, to make such for ourselves...

*one of the few words I have to look up regularly to confirm they mean what I think they mean. I want to praise, not lambast, after all...
