Lego Technic SRV (WIP)

I agree, loving the new front struts! I think keeping the middle and rear ones as-is is a good idea. I have experience with those joints and I doubt they could support the weight of the entire SRV without sagging.

Update: 10/02/2020

I often work on the insides with the roof off because it's easier, but after putting the roof back on I realised I had to drop the roof down one thick brick (3 flats to all you AFOLs)
I also reworked the very front of the main body to reflect the styling of the actual SRV.

Assembled everything in place to give a nearly-finished render:

The main body houses a track system that a turret will sit on top, dragging it forward upon request. Here you can see how the roof opens up to reveal the insides:

The track will also flip up to allow access to deeper inside the main body

I'll be installing the battery pack and motors on the floor of the main body, so access to them has been incoporated into my design. I also found some parasols that fit the wheel rims perfectly.

Update: 12/02/2020

Inside gearing is 95% complete. LDD is a pain in the cargo hatch to position chain links so I'm leaving those off the design. I've marked where they will go. Also LDD doesn't have my model of motor so that's been left out too, however I'm fairly confident that I can fit them in the space.

Final touches over the next few days, should be complete real soon, then ordering parts and draining my bank account! :D

Its quite depressing when you look at the final costs of parts. As you go its like "its only 1 centime" only to wind up spending thirty Euro.

Awesome. So, now someone also needs to make two cargo canisters to scale to check they fit inside? And just to chuck a spanner in the works, where did you say the cargo hatch was? :p

Wow, you could start a mini ELITE Advent Calendar with a mini build for each day....

That’s lovely!!!

For the wheel inserts on the biggie, have you tried the printed solid grey Tie Fighter cockpit cover dish?
