Let's play: Guess the Winter DLC

With all the hints in mind from today’s stream, I think tomorrow Frontier will reveal a grassland-themed DLC (maybe even Pampas, but that seems a little too specific for rn). Also, I think the odds seem to lean in the direction of an Animal Pack, but Frontier could always throw another curveball with a Standard “building” Pack.

This all said, here is the lineup I think is most likely. This isn’t what I’d personally desire most, just what I think Frontier is likely to choose.

Grasslands Animal Pack

• Armadillo (Nine or Six-Banded)
• Maned Wolf
• Emu
• Antelope species (plenty of well-known options from both Africa and Asia)
• Crested Porcupine (African or Indian)
• Secretary Bird or Grey Crowned Crane
• Small Carnivoran species (many could work here, such as Honey Badger, Caracal, Black-footed Ferret, etc.)
• Some type of Walk-through Exhibit species

I honestly can’t figure out a good walkthrough animal, I’d like if they give us a WE and a basic E

Cheating by coming in after the teaser, and honestly just making a list that is more to taste than it is likely, but:

Grasslands Animal Pack

• Southern three-banded armadillo
• Patagonian mara
• Greater rhea
• Bennett's wallaby
• Emu
• Hamadryas baboon
• African crested porcupine

No strong feeling about the exhibit species. Yes, I put both big ratites in the same pack, fight me. Yes, I went and did that after deciding to exclude the echidna because it's the visual cross-section between the mandatory armadillo and the more desirable porcupine. Honestly this looks pretty much like what I'd include in a "one last pack, cram everything in" DLC regardless of theming, save for the armadillo.

I honestly can't decide on one theme for the dlc. Of course a grasslands DLC is possible but since armadillos also live in tropical rainforests (even the nine-banded armadillo!), don't forget a rainforest dlc as a possibility (also think about the palm trees and tropical looking plants in general that Lydia used in the stream!). And because Frontier suprised us so many times this year, I even think a South America Pack 2 is a possibility.

So, these are my choices of animals in all three options:

Grasslands DLC

5. Indian blackbuck
6. African crested porcupine

exhibit: veiled chameleon
(honourable mentions: grey crowned crane, marabou stork, secretary bird -> maybe one of these instead of the mara or blackbuck)

1. Any armadillo
2. Black howler monkey
3. Fossa
4. Goodfellow's tree kangaroo
5. Ocelot
6. Diana monkey
7. Lowland anoa
WE: two-toed sloth

South America 2/Latin America (or whatever you could call it)
1. Any armadillo
2. Black howler monkey
3. Golden lion tamarin
4. Maned wolf
5. Greater rhea
6. Patagonian mara
7. Ocelot

Here's my tropical pack idea in a new pack format.


Rainforest animal Pack

1. Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
2. Guereza
3. South American Coati
4. Golden lion Tamarin
5. Two-toed Sloth (WE)
6. Scarlet Macaw (WE)
7. Toco toucan (WE)
8. Green Anaconda (E)

I really think something like this has potential - I suspect a different snake (say, maybe, gaboon viper) and rainbow lorikeet over scarlet macaw (probably more realistic for a walkthrough. But otherwise there's lots to love here...even the armadillo they've teased might just fit into it.

Hyacinth Macaw (WE)

Instead of committing a full pack to birds, they'll use this release and four from next year to revisit the continents as animal packs. They'll put in somewhere around three birds as walkthrough exhibits in each pack. Since there's 3 WE exhibits in this case, they'll have 9 animals added in total instead of 8.

I think there is a chance of a warmer climate pack. After all is summer in the southern hemisphere lol

I like the shrubland idea. I think is better than grassland and even better if they create a new biome for it.

Cool animal roster, but my personal choice for the animals for this kind of pack would be:

1. Emu
2. Maned wolf
3. Secretary bird
4. Caracal
5. African crested porcupine
6. Collared peccary
7. Echidna or armadillo
8. An owl or vulture (EX)

Rhea and patagonian mara were runner ups (and personal favorites over the emu and the porcupine) but i doubt we'll get two ratites that are also similar in shape and two rodents in one pack.

We have a winner! With a 4/8, and bonus for doing it before the tease in the stream.

I tried to avoid tropical species as we have a ton of SA animals from the tropics and there aren't many tropics in Oceania (well, at least Australia. I don't know about the nearby islands)
