Meridian - a planetary circumnavigation

I've been making really good headway with lots of flat open terrain, and the occasional small crater. It was almost starting to feel too easy, and a diversion other than bumpy terrain was sounding really nice when I came upon a nice big crater with a central peak.

So I climbed the peak, and am now back to crossing the open flats.

Not too far beyond the crater, was a mountain, so I climbed that too. With the headway I made today, it is quite possible that will be the last peak I com,e across on this expedition.

I am now officially less than 20° latitude away from completing this circumnavigation, and if my terrain and travel times remain similar to the past few days, I may arrive back at the pole by this time tomorrow. Kind of a bittersweet feeling parking up for what may be the last time on the official part of this journey.

I totally hear that. When I completed the last stretch of my circumnavigation and came over the final ridge to see my starting crater in front of me I felt (oddly since it's just a game) REALLY emotional. There were others with me at the time and I think I said something like "well this is weird, now that I'm here I don't want to finish". I stopped to savour the moment and yes, may even have shed a slight tear. I guess we just don't want good things to come to an end!

This thread is stunning! Learnt more in one day then I've done in years about cartographics and the like.

Rep to straha20 for sheer awesomeness and to Alec for pointing me in the direction of this thread in the first place.

Wish I had this level of dedication. Mind = blown.

Good luck on your final leg if you make it tonight.

I am parked up close to your finish but will be well asleep (this time) when you're driving to the end.

Thanks, I appreciate that, and totally understandable. I may not actually make it tonight, because I was driving along minding my own business, and this broke over the horizon, directly in my path

Not terribly big, but big enough to be a distraction.

Congratulations Cmdr Straha Yeager, a truly inspirational circumnavigation!

I'll update the details on the circumnavigation thread asap and sort out your EDSM badge (assuming you use EDSM). Do you have any idea of your apprioximate in-game duration and/or distance travelled for the circumnavigation?
