Moving into Alpha 3 - Steam Store Update

So what you're saying is that I've been overcharged? Some people are going to be getting all that for £20? I've supported you early on as well with £100 worth of my money, but you're not giving me anything more as a thanks for all that extra money... Not even the VIP ticket: I don't even have a clue what that is. Would you buy something without knowing what it was first Zac? My mistake, I know, but I would have bought a staff one as well if the details were clear.

Surely the extra money you have paid was to get early access to the game, and to be able to play it throughout the whole alpha. Those that pre-ordered have not played the game, and we were told the prices would come down nearer release anyway. If people pre-order now, or access the early bird, they are still pledging their support for the game before release. Its just to make sure everyone gets something for their support, which must be extremely difficult to work out from Frontiers point of view. In my opinion this is extremely fair, and a great decision [happy]

Now, I am totally confused. The pre-orders will get extras in the thrill seeker package? The Early Bird will have beta access but not the thrill seeker extras? Are the thrill seeker extras hard copies or downloads? The CHC will get the thrill seeker but not the beta?

Can someone please straighten me out on this. I have the Early Bird, what will I get besides Alpha access, or is that all I have until release?

Hi Parkmaker

Because you have Early Bird, you will have Alpha access, and then beta access right up to release. You will also receive all the extra goodies that have been announced with the Thrillseeker edition [happy]

CHC members will only receive the extra goodies if also purchased the game. eg Early Bird, Pre-order, Deluxe edition and/or Coaster Head Edition etc

You will get Beta and everything in the Thrillseeker Edition. My point though was that I paid an extra £30 to buy the Early Bird access which promised access to the alpha and the beta which I wouldn't get if I paid the cheaper version. I have hardly played the alpha because it's just not got enough there for me yet but the part I was most excited for was the beta, since most of the content and gameplay should be there by then. But now everyone else who paid the cheaper price is getting that as well...

If they had said back at the start that pre-orders would get Beta as well then I would have bought that instead of Early Bird as I'm not really bothered about Alpha. The money I paid for CHC is fine, it's not great at the moment but I've been told by the support team that it will get more involved so I have to trust them on that. What I don't trust though is the VIP passes. When are we going to find out anything about that? Someone asked in CHC and the answer was that they can't tell us anything yet. I feel sorry for all the people who paid £500 for a silly foundation stone thing that's probably never going to happen.

You made a set of assumptions about Beta. It was never stated that the only way to get Beta was to get the Early Bird edition. It has not yet been stated what the Beta entails, and given Bo's original "weekend" text it's entirely possible that it's going to be extremely limited. My original assumption was that after Alpha ended, Frontier would open up Beta but at a slightly lower entry price. It appears that's close to the truth but not quite it. If you weren't interested in Alpha, it would have made sense to wait until closer to release to find out what Frontier's plans were for Beta.

I'd like more information about the guest designer (e.g. if it's just a case of picking from a preset face type, hair type, clothing type and giving your guests names, I'm not sure if it's worth the money; if it allows me to recreate my likeness or the likeness of a loved one, I'd be more inclined to think it would be value for money). At this point given all we've seen about guests is that their general face and body shape is hand-crafted with some variety in hairstyle/colour and clothing, so I think it's more likely to be toward the simple end. Having said that, Frontier have been working hard on a complex avatar creation system for Elite, so it's possible that might influence what we get.

As for the foundation stone, if it doesn't appear in game Frontier will refund it.

is there an upgrade from the Early Bird to the VIP, I could not find one?
The VIP passes are bought separately. For the VIP pass to work you will need any copy of Planet Coaster (Early Bird, Preorder, Standard or Thrillseeker).

Frontier, could you clarify if this tickets:

• Planet Coaster In-game VIP Single Ticket
• Planet Coaster In-game VIP Group Ticket
• Planet Coaster In-game VIP Staff Pass

Will be available to buy in-game or something else after August 25 ?

"Anyone who has already purchased a pre-order of Planet Coaster will be given ALL the extras of the Thrillseeker Edition including Beta access, as a thank you for your continued support and feedback during the development of Planet Coaster."
We love you Frontier <3

Wait, so this means that those who have pre-ordered the game will be given a steam-key on the 25th of august? Or do we have to get the early bird alpha?

its called marketing, gaming companies have been doing this crap for years now. what you paid for was the "hype" and "excitement" of testing the unfinished game early, in order to put more money into frontiers pocket. Now you just have to tell yourself that the extra 30-40 bucks you paid actually went somewhere meaningful (thats up to you) next time your favorite game offers an alpha, you should just be patient [wink] all this "golden hat" crap isnt even worth anything and yet were all in an uproar over it lol and the beta is only going to last a few weeks anyway, just enjoy the game and becareful on how you spend money with future addons, dont give in to every little $4 avatar item they try to sell us, otherwise gaming companies will only continue to milk us harder in the future, friggen dlc

Afraid not "Please note that these new editions do NOT give you access to Alpha and this can only be purchase by getting the Early Bird edition of the game before 25 August."

Really looking forward to the soundtrack. Will listen to it at work [big grin]

Oh this is lovely news. Thank you so much Frontier. You rock!!

The game when it releases. No early access.

So no Beta Access?
Meaning the £20 'Planet Coaster' Edition is NOT the 'Thrillseeker' edition -- which is currently not available for purchase?

Actually you will! Whichever game version you buy as a pre-order (meaning before August 25) will get you ALL perks of the Thrillseeker edition, including Beta access. Hope this clarifies things! [big grin]

But this must be the preferred (Devs preferred, that is.) plan. Otherwise Bo wouldn't of said it in the first place???

Typical.

Hiya, the edit didn't have anything to do with a Beta duration :) just the wording of which versions get you what in order to clarify some questions.

Question: What about those who already purchased the standard edition for $30? If I buy now at the discounted price do I get the Thrillseeker Edition?

If you've already purchased the game you will automatically get all Thrillseeker perks.

Very nice! I don't think it can be more clear than this [tongue]

Thank you [happy] so nice to hear, Ive been waiting to purchase since I am poor and need a new computer, but I will be sure to grab a pre-order this week [up] can not wait!!!

This is great news! I've been wondering when you guys were going to pull the trigger on Beta! Nice! Also, though I am grateful for your inclusive products, and was prepared for nothing extra, I don't feel it's Frontier generosity as much as it is recognition of the premium price we paid to get in on this alpha in the first place. Thank you for recognizing that in such a compensatory way, gang!
