I should have shut up ! Incredible ......Well, if I really wanted to show offI'd tell you about how I fit an additional 16T fuel tank in the Anaconda to go with the 32T tank it comes with so when it uses up to 8T of fuel per jump I can still get the same number of jumps out of a tank as I could with a DBX/ASPX/Phantom. I then go to town with a 7A fuel scoop that fills the tanks in 38 seconds. It's a bit excessive when a 7A fuel scoop alone costs 91,180,640 credits!
I got caught again.(Frontier Maintenance) Every Thursday. Usually not a long down time.
Here she is: Manita 2, Hauler Extraordinaire. Proud Owner: Wombat1940I've bought all you've suggested plus a one-off 3E Cargo Rack suggested in Codger's similarly comprised list.
However, I can't find a Heat Sink Launcher. Is that because it's just not available at this Station ?
If you restart your computer so everything gets to restart, does that fix it?I got caught again.
They shut the server and I was still up and running.
It totally stuffs up my system.
ED won't shut down properly, Steam needs reinstalling, ED is hesitant about re-opening.
I need some foolproof way to ensure I shut down before they do !
I know we've talked about it before, but can you just remind me again what I should do. Thanks.
It shuts down ED to a totally blank, black screen. I then have to reinstall Steam and wait 5 minutes before trying to boot up ED.If you restart your computer so everything gets to restart, does that fix it?
It's Thursday morning for you and 5.00 pm Thursday for me.I would not expect any reinstalls to be necessary.
My son plays on Steam but he's always at college Thursday mornings.
Why is the 3E Cargo Rack greyed out ?Here she is: Manita 2, Hauler Extraordinaire. Proud Owner: Wombat1940

Why change the Power Plant ? What's wrong with the 2D ? Or are you saying that's the problem as to why the Cargo Rack is not showing correctly ?Change the Power Plant.
I guess 1A would be ok, if shipyard allows it to be installed (as coriolis.io does not allow) - if not, then use 2A.
That happens sometimes. I just kill the ED executable in the taskmanager. Never causes any problems. It shut down ED to a totally blank, black screen. I then have to reinstall Steam and wait 5 minutes before trying to boot up ED.

A greyed out item normally indicates you have disabled the power to it. In this case it seems to be a bit of a "glitch". I see this sometimes. If you remove and replace the cargo rack it should show up normally. Why is the 3E Cargo Rack greyed out ?It's installed ......

It is true fuel scooping would be a bit easier with a 2A power plant, because A rated power plants are more efficient and produce less heat. The issue here is the 2A power plant is more expensive and Wombat1940 does not yet have enough credits for it.Heat.
With the A-rated one you'll be able to scoop fuel longer even in Hauler without frying so bad (compared to the D-rated one).
1A should give enough power to that build, if the game allows it to be fitted. It is true fuel scooping would be a bit easier with a 2A power plant, because A rated power plants are more efficient and produce less heat. For Wombat's benefit, the full story looks like this assuming a 1A cannot be fitted.1A should give enough power to that build, if the game allows it to be fitted.
If having enough credits for that, that is.
Even 2C would be great improvement on the heat front, with negligible cost in jump range.
It's only after I post the ship's composition at the Forum that the 3E cargo rack greys out. Immediately following just saving the details, it looks fine.A greyed out item normally indicates you have disabled the power to it. In this case it seems to be a bit of a "glitch". At the moment I'm going to focus on the very safe courier missions. Just shipping computer data. The build looks perfect and you might as well have the cargo rack is it does not weigh anything until you put cargo in it, and it gives you the option of picking up source and deliver mission in the Maia area if you feel like it when you get there. In a neighbouring system there is a damaged space station under repair - I assume it is still under repair. They had source and deliver missions going, and some were small enough to fit in 8T cargo capacity. If it interests you when you get there, I'll give you more details. Keep in mind auto docking was not functional when I was last there due to the damage and pirates will often try to interdict you on the 11,000ls supercruise from the star to the station and you will have cargo they want. The things the station wanted to be supplied could be bought in the Maia system, but you also need to be prepared to land at planet based stations to source some commodities. If you do decide to do this for a while when you are there, make sure you sell your exploration data first.
No, I'm not itching to buy a DBX. I haven't even flown the Hauler yet.You might be itching to get to Ray Gateway and buy the DBX. If you did road to riches Maia to Diaguandri Ray Gateway and sold the exploration data, it would give you instant reputation with the controlling faction and you would have enough credits to skip the DBX and buy the ASP X. Having said that, you already know the DBX is an experience not to be missed and if you want to go for the Guardian FSD booster for the +10.5ly jump range boost (for a size 5 that does not fit in DBX), it is a several hour quest to get materials that is best done with the DBX and 2 x SRVs on board.
Ok. A 2C it is.For Wombat's benefit, the full story looks like this assuming a 1A cannot be fitted.
The lower the efficiency number, the less heat is produced by the power plant which helps make fuel scooping a bit easier.
2E efficiency 1.0 weight 2.5T cost 1980 (comes with ship)
2D efficiency 0.75 weight 1T cost 5930
2C efficiency 0.5 weight 1.3T cost 17,800
2B efficiency 0.45 weight 2T cost 53,410
2A efficiency 0.4 weight 1.3T cost 160,210 (outside current budget)
So out of that list I agree 2C is also good choice ............. and efficiency is another step better than the 2D.
As you say this is later, not the here and now. When it comes to better exploration ships later when you have plenty of credits, look for the lightest weight A rated power plant you can fit and get the power output you need.
My Phantom runs on a 3A power plant with grade 1 low emissions plus thermal spread - efficiency 0.27.
My only real regret in my ED journey was spending so long doing road to riches in the Hauler I did skip the DBX and went straight for the ASP X. I realised what a mistake that was when I picked up a DBX out of curiosity long after buying an Anaconda, Krait II and Phantom. I should have done Hauler road to riches just long enough to get the credits for the DBX and then switched to that. Have your sound volume at a good level for the first time you hit boost in the DBXAnd as for avoiding the DBX and moving directly to the ASP X ....... Out of the question ! Slow and steady I intend to be, enjoying the ride .......![]()
