Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

Here's something you might find interesting, Wombat.

This is a map of all of my travels in Elite Dangerous up to October last year. I need to update it for more recent activity! It was produced by a very cool program written by CMDR Orvidius that reads your journal files and outputs a map of travels. See his thread for more info:

The three circled areas are the bubble (bottom right), Colonia (bottom left) and Sag A* (upper middle). You can see I've made several trips to Colonia area and back, one trip out to Sag A*, and a trip out to see the Zurara (an abandoned megaship that was/is part of a storyline).

And here's the obligatory screenshot at Sag A*, proof of arrival :)

No. Never, never, never.
It's the same with me. The hundred's of little things I've picked up just flying electronic courier missions.
I can imagine how much more you have learned flying your missions.
My problem is, will I remember mine?
Two things:
1. I got notification of an update of a mission I was flying. I checked in the mission details in TRANSACTIONS but really don't see any changes. Was I just missing something because I was unaware of what the initial mission objects were?
2. I have an assigned <KEY> I use to reduce my speed by a certain percentage. However, there's at least a 3 second delay BEFORE the reduction in speed is actioned. Is this normal ?
Thanks.

1) Sometimes there is a message in your chat window about it. Sometimes it's just a progress update.

2) Well, there is a bit of inertia, if that's what you mean. The throttle indicator should go to 75% right away, then speed bleeds off.

I'm assuming the "stagged steps" in the green lines, represent "jumps".
I'm surprised what appears to be the number of "jumps" (ie "steps") say from the Bubble to Sag A*, are so few, considering how far it is. 😮

That shot gives me goosebumps. Seriously ..... o_O

What do you mean by "progress" ?.

No. Not inertia.
That's like over-run. eg. When you apply the brakes to a moving car. It doen't stop instantaneously.
The inertia (measured by its mass) will keep it going.

In my case, it's more the delay in it starting to reduce power. Which causes me to over-shot my everything.

eg. II was driving a car and I lift my foot off the accelerator I expect the car engine to react immediately. I might not slow down immediately, but that's a different thing, particularly if I'm going downhill.

Mission progress of some kind. It varies.

As for the delay, if the keypress isn't acted upon immediately then that's odd. I've never had that happen.

Yes, not easy to see the real number of "jumps" (ie "steps")
Do you know ruffly how many jumps it took you to get directly between the Bub' and Sag' ?
Well, it won't mean much to you because I was in my carrier for that trip, but it was 52 jumps of approx 500LY each. Each jump takes a minimum of 20 minutes, but usually it takes me longer.

For fun I put in a D-rated Hauler with about a 31LY jump range into the Route Planner (3rd party web site), and it came out to 848 jumps. It can make it there, though :)

PS CMDR Orvidius knows more than anyone about the galaxy map and locations and how to calculate stuff. You should ask him some questions!
In truth, I haven't looked at the SPOILER. 😖 I'm frightened it might give too much away. Spoil it for me later on ....... ;) But I've made a note of his name. (y)

Eh? I just put it in a spoiler tag to save space. His thread is very interesting, right up your alley I would think. Up to you of course.

Actually, it means more to me than you maybe realize.
I started a trip in my Hauler from LHS 2265 (in the BUBBLE) to visit Quain in COLONIA.
This before my understanding of X : Z : Y coordinates. 22,000LY meant nothing to me until I started to make "HUGE JUMPS" in my Hauler. :ROFLMAO:
I quickly realized it would take me 20 years not 20 mins to get there !!! 😲

Hence, I do have a feel for the reality of your trip and it's amazing, but Carrier ownership essential.;)

Ha! That's very interesting because ED Galaxy Map wouldn't plan a route for me (naturally), so I started jumping just blind.
848 jumps?
Ye ..... that's about 20 years for me (at my age). :ROFLMAO:
