Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

See the Shipyard tab below which should be selected and the left / right arrows to change between the ships for sale.
This picture is taken from a youtube video where the guy has changed his colour scheme to cyan. Personally I stick with the orange colour scheme.
Note that if you really wanted to keep your Sidewinder and transfer it to a different station in future without flying it there yourself, use the SHIP TRANSFER tab when at the destination station you want to move your ship to, pay a fee and the transfer begins. It will be cheap and take minutes to transfer a Sidewinder to somewhere else in the bubble.
If I wanted to transfer my Anaconda 22,000ly to Colonia, it would cost me well over 100 million credits and take over 60 hours....

Oh S**t! (they probably won't print that word), but "I've done it again ...... 😖🤬🤮" . There are stacks of ships here. I just didn't look properly. Your suggestion shown above fixed everything. (y)

I'm going to hop in on this... I've seen tons of complaints about Odyssey. I got into ED because Xbox offered it on Game Pass. I played it one day and immediately fell in love with it. The next day I bought it on Steam and any available DLC, including Odyssey. Odyssey allowed me to be able to get out of my SRV and walk around on a planet's surface. It allowed me to get out at a station and check out my ship, the station, the people, hell, even the station itself through the windows. The complaints I have seen have more to do with comparing it to an FPS game like COD rather than what it's intention was, which was expanding an already rich galaxy. The last game that I played that had nearly the customization and exploration capabilities of ED was Star Wars Galaxies. While I still play Galaxies on private servers, it really doesn't compare to ED. 400 billion star systems to explore! Holy cow! This game was meant for exploration. That is one of the reasons the Engineers are spread out so much.

I've seen people on this forum saying they are tired of the same ol same ol... Where?! Has every system been visited? Every faction found? Every planet explored? May as well say life is the same ol same ol. It isn't the endgame that matters. The journey is the game. The endgame is just that. The end.
Oh yes! Somebody after my own heart! And I seem to be meeting a few others. ;)
Yes, it's the journey that matters. It's great when you get there, but that's it. It's over. Finished.
Crossfire 2.0 was just that for me. 😥

The trick with ED is thinking of a new challenges or destinations for yourself, that is more than - must buy ship X, or a Fleet Carrier, or whatever and get credits until I have it.

I've flown back to "The World of Death" today, to have a second attempt at producing a time lapse video of my SRV sitting on the fast orbiting planet as it passes through the jet cone of the White Dwarf star. It's not like I'll be the first to do it - there are a few videos on youtube of this already.

I also want to be able to complete a battle in a "medium" or "high" conflict zone without taking so much damage I have to retreat, or running out of ammo - I use multi-cannons a lot, before the battle is won. Now I need to engineer some lasers - which is fairly easy to do in Colonia as all the engineers are close together provided you have qualified to get access to them.

Indeed it is.

I found ED at just the right time in my life, when I had just retired and had a lot of time on my hands. It's become more of a hobby than a game to me over the years. It's just part of my life any more :) I do get tired on occasion and take a short break, but I don't see any end in sight for me, unless the game itself disappears (or I do lol ).

I just love being in space, flying ships, seeing the stars and planets and making my way in this vast Galaxy they've made for us.

Even combat, which I avoided for years, has become enjoyable to me, simply because I've improved myself and my ships to the point that I can be successful at it, even though I'm not a great pilot and have a rather slow reaction time. I actually like the on-foot combat, too, which I wasn't expecting to enjoy.

It's like having an alternate 'life' in a way. Fun times!

I enjoy the PVE combat. Though I haven't figured out why when I go to a low conflict zone and shoot the one low tier guy in the back, 5 others swarm me and I can't get the kill fast enough and have to leave. I've been sticking mainly to Nav beacons until I get some things worked out.

That is what makes conflict zones more of a challenge - you are joining a side in a war so you become a target for everyone on the opposing side.
There are two solutions:
1) Take care and pick targets at the edge of the battle space
2) Bring a fully engineered Federal Corvette to the battle and win all by yourself 💪 (and then get beaten by human players in FDLs and Krait IIs)

I'm using a Krait II with fully engineered Multi-canons and fully engineered frag canon on the medium mounts, plus a Ship Launch Fighter which is quite useful for drawing fire away from me. Bi-weave shields and shield boosters also fully engineerd... and the thrusters - most important of all.
Some of the time I can last out the battle in "Low intensity" and "Medium intensity" conflict zones, but not high yet.
The good old favourite HazRes is a good level of challenge so long as you take care when starting a fight with a wing of 3 medium or large ships.

Not that I am an expert at combat. I was Elite explorer, Tycoon trader and Novice combat until I started focusing a bit more on combat recently.

Yeah, I try to go for the low tier ones on the edge. It seems the others come to rescue him. LOL, almost as bad as when a cop gets between me and a target and gets accidentally straffed.

I'm watching a rather rapid White Dwarf star in and jet cone "sunrise", and ED has even found a fitting piece of classical music to play. Looks like I'm getting the video I want to this time... OMG 😳
I figured out how to use the neutron star to boost. I hear white dwarfs are more dangerous. Is there are different way to use them than the neutron?

White Dwarfs have a larger exclusion zone and shorter jet cone making it harder to scoop for the FSD boost.

I'm currently in an SRV, the ship is dismissed, and I riding on this fast moving planet that slingshots very close around a White Dwarf passing through the jet cone as it goes. Even a ship in the surface burns up doing this, but the SRV can survive it. I need to time recalling the ship right to make sure I'm well away from the jet cone, otherwise the ship burns, gets tossed around and smashed into the planet surface.

That is a ton of hazard for a timelapse! Be sure to share it. I don't think I would take that kind of chance, but maybe I will one day if that is the sole reason for me to be there...

Here's my new Hauler, Christened half an hour ago. But she needs fitting out. Weapon(s), scoop (3A I hope), FSD .......
I have a list somewhere, but I've lost it.
Ideas please. (Just the essentials).
Think I'll work from here for a while. Seem there's plenty of work.

My suggestion for a starter Hauler on coriolis link below.
It has a 3C fuel scoop, but you do have enough credits for a 3B. The 3A fuel scoop all by itself is, wait for it, 902,950 credits. The enitre Hauler with a 3B fuel scoop comes to under 750,000 credits including insurance/rebuy.

Edit: I left a size 3 internal slot empty so you can put an SRV plus SRV (bought separately) in there, but you might want to wait until you are in a DBX or ASPX before getting into SRVs as the added weight really kills the jump range on the little Hauler.

There is only one small hardpoint for a weapon, so not even worth fitting one.

I'd start out by D-rating most stuff, except the Frameshift Drive. Then you'd have a ship capable of 30LY jumps and have a decent amount of cargo space for missions, etc.

Something like this:

I depends a bit on what you want to do, and what your finances are. And how much trouble you want to go to, to get the various modules :p

Could add a fuel scoop if you want to get fuel that way.

Well its "only" 1.8 million credits for the rebuy on my Phantom and an enterprising commander has parked his Fleet Carrier nearby. My first attempt did destroy my ship, because I left the computer unattended and forgot to synthesis more fuel to the SRV. When the SRV blew up the ship got called in automatically - when the planet was in the White Dwarf jet code and the ship just got burnt and smashed into the planet.
I've escaped unscathed this time with a video to show for it. I'll share a link a bit later when I've uploaded it somewhere.

Riding the World of Death
I'm quite pleased with how this turned out, and I got really lucky with music track hitting a dramatic note around the 1 minute mark. The first 1 minute is at 9 x normal speed, then it slows to normal speed for a while in the middle before speeding up at the end - you'll get why when you watch it. Watch out for the gravity of the White Dwarf bending light like a lense which you can tell by what happens to the distance stars surrounding it.
Also best viewed full screen - it's 2 minutes 39 seconds long.
