Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

Oh! Does that apply to every item you are trying to transfer ? 😮 ie. It has to go into storage before it can be transferred ?
Perfect. The Scoop transferred from Storage on the SideWinder to the operation slot on the Hauler. (y)

Quain wrote as much and I missed it:

Yes, good point, but I came from a different background, and here for different reasons. ;)
Let me explain:
I came to ED from a background of simulated jet fighter piloting. Not completely, but almost. ie. The F-16 and the F-22.
I had a large computer screen, TM HOTAS, head-adjusted picture movement, special acoustics, a specially dedicated room for the sims, and other things.
I took off and landed all manually. Even hooked onto the wire on an aircraft carrier, or tried.
Flew bombing missions, undertook mid-air combat, worked with teams of NPC pilots, had two special pilot friends, flew with them, did it all.
And then started holidaying in Bali for 6 to 8 months a year, which required a 6-hour plane trip and meant I left my F-16 and F-22 back in Australia.
They couldn't come with me. :(
So I had to find something else that I could play with a keyboard and mouse in my hotel room on so many nights in Bali.
And besides; I'd had enough of "real-world simulated" piloting; HOTAS Joystick and Throttle take-offs and landing. 🙄
Give me something easier so I can enjoy the scenery!
And I found Crossfire 2.0 which lead me to ED.
Hence, my preference for Auto take-off and landings.
And who wants to spend time taking off and docking with a K & M after so much previous HOTAS experience ! 😦

What's the betting, Quain and FG have HOTAS or at least something more fun to use than a K & M.
Irrespective, it's not for me. Auto anything. I'll take it any time. ;)
Thanks for listening.
However, I can manually take off within 5 minutes and dock within 10. Not well, but well enough to get by if I have to. (y)

It can be tempting to let the game play itself for you, but I'd not recommend that. This is primarily a game about flying spaceships, that's it (well except for Odyssey, but I'll not go there). Whatever else you do in the game is based upon that. Sure, you can trade and have the ship take off and dock by itself, but why would you, the credits don't mean anything. All they do is enable you to buy more and different ships, and why would you do that if you're not going to fly them?

Flying in normal space time (not supercruise) is the most fun part of the game I would say.

Learn to dock (and take off) manually. It's really not difficult, especially in a small ship. And it's fun and satisfying when you get to a point where you can do it well. You have ooodles of time, 10 minutes from when you request docking to when you need to be on the pad, loads of time to make mistakes and figure out the mechanics, and 5 minutes from when you launch to be out of the station.

Just my 2 cents worth. ;)

My suggestion for a starter Hauler on coriolis link below.
It has a 3C fuel scoop, but you do have enough credits for a 3B. The 3A fuel scoop all by itself is, wait for it, 902,950 credits. The enitre Hauler with a 3B fuel scoop comes to under 750,000 credits including insurance/rebuy.
I've bought all you've suggested plus a one-off 3E Cargo Rack suggested in Codger's similarly comprised list.
However, I can't find a Heat Sink Launcher. Is that because it's just not available at this Station ?

Maybe. I can’t tell what station you’re at from that post.

According to EDDB it does have them. Be sure you’re on a utility slot, and check each category in the store.
Check when it's up and running again.
Is the Heat Sink Launcher a sub-category of a category ? ie. It doesn't have its own category like a Fuel Scoop ?

Oh! I see! It's Utility Mounted. Different to Internal or Optionally Installed. That might be my problem.
Question ? (not another ! ;))
If I wanted to build my own list of the installed modules at EDCD, where do I start ?

At the moment my Auto Docking Module is a must. I can relax while it auto docks me. So far I've only hit something once: the rim of a station on the way to the entry slot. Only small, repairable damage. And it docks so quickly. Far quicker than I ever could. Besides, it gives me time to comb my hair, visit the bathroom, get my coffee mug out, etc. ;)
On any of my ships that dock frequently I have a docking computer to save time. The exceptions are of course the Phantom explorer which rarely docks and I use the slot for something else, and if I refit the Krait II for mining I need the size 1 slot normally used for the docking computer to fit in a refinery to process mined minerals.

I am now worried you are going to try and fuel scoop with a 2E fuel scoop in a Hauler. It will take 2 minutes 5 seconds to completely fill the 4T tank on a Hauler with that 2E fuel scoop. That's going to drive you round the bend - too slow and you'll be moving away from and back to the star multiple times to refuel. It is too slow.
You have the credits to buy a 3C fuel scoop, or event a 3B to go in the size 3 slot. The 3C fuel scoop takes 31 seconds to fill the tank, the 3B 26 seconds.

To put it into perspective, my Phantom has a 6A fuel scoop which fills it's 32T tank in 36 seconds.
The DBX also has a 32T fuel tank and only a 4A fuel scoop which takes 1 minute 33 seconds to fill the tank. It's a bit slow, but the DBX will not turn into a fireball the way a Hauler does while scooping so it's OK if you're patient.

I do have a HOTAS set up, but I still use keyboard and mouse a lot. I only get the HOTAS out for combat, and even then, not every time.
