Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

People are trying to help you. Why are you getting upset? You did that with me earlier.
Exactly. It's not me that needs the help !
I should never have got involved in the first place !
Please talk to those that pointed out what I had done was ill-timed: aRJay
G0d ! I'm getting involved again. :ROFLMAO:

.......... Why are you getting upset? ........
Sorry ! I'm not getting upset. :ROFLMAO:
I'm just stamping my authority. :ROFLMAO:
You have to do that as an 81-year-old, otherwise they say: " He's old, ignore him ! ". :ROFLMAO:
If I'm 'getting upset', you'll see lots of these: 🤬😤. :ROFLMAO:
Right, I think that covers it ....... for the moment ....... :ROFLMAO:

Hopefully, I haven't offended too many people. 😟

Anyway, here goes ..... ;)
I've got evidence that I have "Heatsink" on-board. Left side in my cockpit. Also shows "1/2"
I'm not sure what this means .......
Is it just the number of "items to drop" ?
Does it include the delivery module ?
And how do you deliver them ?
Thanks.
:)

Well posting WOMBAT OUT !!!!! when someone tries to help is not a good idea, nor is saying you 'don't care' when someone posts a helpful reply.... you will have to scroll back to read that, I can't be bothered to link to it.
Enjoy the game.

Any weapon, heat sink launcher, limpet controller or something else than fires or launches something into space based on ammunition or items of limited supply such as limpets, will show this:
Ammo in the firing chamber / ammo in reserve that will reload when the firing chamber is empty.

So for the heatsink, 1/2 means there is one heat sink ready to fire and two more heatsinks in the ammo store. When you launch a heatsink, you will see 0/2 until the launcher reloads and then you will see 1/1.
Go into your control bindings and set a key for heatsink launcher. I use 'v'. As an explorer, if you need to charge the FSD very close to a star, perhaps because you ran into the star and supercruise did an emergency stop, launch a heatsink a couple of seconds before you start to charge the FSD and it stops the ship from overheating.

A multi-cannon (Gatling gun type weapon) which has ammo will show something like 77 / 3660.
When the 77 rounds have been fired, the weapon will spend a few seconds reloading and be unable to fire (unless you had engineering done on it for the autoloader special effect, but that's another story). When your 3660 (or however many rounds it is) are all fired, it's time to leave the battle!

A heat sink is just a big hunk of metal, really. When you fire one, the heat from your ship gets put into that big metal block, and then ejected into space, taking the heat with it.

To fire one, you can either put it in a firing group, like a weapon, and choose your primary or secondary fire button for it.

Or, you can bind a key directly to it in the key bindings options.

When you fire one, there will be a short delay while heat is transferred, then the heatsink will be automatically ejected. Your ship's temperature will drop dramatically, and then start to rise again as usual.

A lot of folks seem to find them almost a requirement for exploring. I've never used them except in combat situations where I had to use a shield cell bank (another module) because those raise your ship's temperature a great deal.

Hope that helps.

So this week's community goal is present in Colonia as well as the bubble. Collect a load of stuff and deliver to Jaques Station in Colonia as a contribution to building Megaships that will make travel between Colonia and the bubble easier. 1000s of tons are needed, so it seemed to be a good excuse to buy the most hilarious ship I've yet flown in ED. It handles like a oil tanker and sounds like a Saturn V rocket. You start a turn in supercruise, of off and make a cup of tea or coffee, and when you get back, if by some miracle you haven't been interdicted, you might be facing in the right direction.
It can haul an immense 688T of cargo even when 32T is lost due to having a fighter bay installed and another 64T is lost due to the class 6 shield. I've been draining the supply of certain goods at some stations with it. The Hauler's biggest brother:

My mantra was stolen from Frontier themselves, and I'm fond of repeating it

Blaze your own

Which of course means commanders should follow their own vision. By all means gather advice and opinions, but use them to cultivate your own path, not to follow them necessarily. With that said, I hate the T-9. On one hand I wanted to congratulate you for your new ship, always an exciting thing. On the other hand I feel despair :)

It's a capable ship, I know. But good grief it's a dog. I owned one just long enough to A-rate it and get blown up. I sold it moments after the rebuy. And I've disparaged it ever since. I have a minimum requirement for a ship to stay in my fleet. it must boost at least 500 m/s in mission trim. But that's me, and the T-9 couldn't do 500 downhill in the snow.

But anyway, congrats on your new boat. For what it is worth the only big ship in my fleet is the Cutter, that one I can live with. And the Orca, but everyone knows the Orca is a medium ship at heart. And anyway it boosts 600+

Good hunting commander

If you say, quote: "I can't be bothered to link to it." in your post #1207, doesn't that say something about you ? ;)
And suggest maybe, I never said "don't care" .......? :)
But if I did, and I'm not saying I did, I apologize and I'm sorry if I offended.
And as Codger said in post #1173 (and I quote it, saving people looking back .... :D )
"Keeping the thread 'clean' isn't really necessary. No one will care (except you, I guess). Just keep moving forward, like a shark! :p "

You and I, and I say it publicly, are not going to agree, and leave it at that. (y)
There, and I have not used one " 😤 " or even a " ! ". :ROFLMAO:

However, does it mean I already have a Launcher ?
Go into your control bindings and set a key for heatsink launcher. I use 'v'. As an explorer, if you need to charge the FSD very close to a star,
What do you mean by "charge the FSD" ?
..... perhaps because you ran into the star and supercruise did an emergency stop, launch a heatsink a couple of seconds before you start to charge the FSD and it stops the ship from overheating.
But I am hoping, whatever I'm doing close to a Star, eg. scooping, avoiding, "charging", I don't get in a situation that I need to use a Heatsink. However, different in combat and I'm fired on .....

Gees! Is there anything you two don't know about ED! (I'm including Codger and maybe others I don't know as well in that.)
What will be nice, is when we can get off this still basic stuff, and get on to more involved parts of ED.
Things about which can be debated, not argue, not necessarily agree on, but discussed objectively, and there could be others getting involved ...... this thread is public and encourages that.
A bit like my 78-year-old brother, who's just bought a new 800cc motorbike (beats my 700cc 😛)when we discuss 'how to beat COVID'. We are poles apart ! So ..... we just agree to disagree and keep enjoying our ride.

Any weapon, not its own firing module ......................... AAAH ! YES !!!!! I want to shoot "a big hunk metal" ...... got it !!!

I hope I'll be the same. This seems a time of "no alternative" necessity, rather than when I drop out of supercruise when fuel scooping.
Hope that helps.
Naturally it does. ;)

Can't find my list of ships at the moment, so what is she ! Oh! ...... DBX ! (that doesn't look the right name, but you'll know what I mean ..... ;) )

Yes, very appropriate. Would apply to me to. (y)

T-9 ? Sorry, I lost my list of ship. In truth, I'm too lazy to get a new one. 😛
........ But that's me, and the T-9 couldn't do 500 downhill in the snow.
Ha ! Love it ! :ROFLMAO:

I love the way the Forum offers you alternative to your grammer and spelling. I feal sumebodys lokkink over me solgier.
