Of course it is!

You know that everything in Elite Dangerous is measured in filled buckets. If the threshold is met, things will happen.
All we need to do is mentioning ‘space legs’ often enough in this forum and they will magically appear in the game!

The threshold in this case is exactly 750.000 (I was told so in a British pub by two guys in Frontier T-shirts) and we are reaching this number rapidly. ‘Space legs’ in November 2018 confirmed.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We've been asking FDev for ships to have distinct HUDs for a while now, this could be it as well.

I don't think this will be different HUD's for ships. I think there will be two options:

1 - The Torc will be a standard device that cannot be changed and will show what is available and everyone may get this.

2 - The Duradrive will be a device that can have a different range of peripherals and information. These different peripherals may be bought from the Frontier Store as I would assume that they are customisations and therefore would allow you to customise your heads up display. I am guessing we will find out in october which is possibly when the big reveal for Chapter 4 will be.

I can't see your Option 2 happening. So far FD have resisted every attempt at Pay-To-Win, and having to buy peripherals to increase something in game would go against what they have done so far. I hope that any mini-modules you purchase from the Duradrive will be part of the in-game economy. If not, FD will have officially lost the plot IMHO.

I fail to see how it will be pay to win. They won't be modules which will give you any meaningful benefit. Everyone will have all the information on the Torc, but with the Duradrive you will be able to customise how that information looks where it goes and what information is on there. You will still have that information either available on your Torc or with the standard ship pop ups if you don't want the custom look.

Apologies then, in your post you mentioned '
peripherals and information' not cosmetic items that have no gameplay effect. Guess I misunderstood the terminology.​

OMG holographic system map!!? maybe thats why they would not transform the current one to 3d even though it was requested so many times, they had other plans for it! I hop so, would be awesome in VR

Yeah, the initial hype for this being space legs got me for a bit but when you start bathing in some more logical options it becomes clear that this really could be pointing to an array of different things, with many being features I'd love to see so it's all good.

Exciting times.
