First they will finish 2.4 and PS4 release. After that Elite will have only the most hardest things to implement. And it will not be like before (3-4 mounths per update). I don't even think it will be for one year. I am pretty sure that the next part of Elite development will cost to us about 1,3 year. Game is already close to the point of HARD development (just look at the Star Citizen progress). Not even full team can make this time less. So basicly 2.4 is a complete game. We will not see anything new for about year. Only rebalance at best.
What i am trying to say is.. it will be more than 1 year development. There is no point to stick on this. It is better for FD to also focus on something different. Also they need some expirience to make FPS in ED playeble.
The only positive spin I can think to put on this - regarding Elite's future development - is if the new Hollywood franchise game is something very similar to Elite in scope and tech required to develop. Like if it is a new space game similar to Elite but based on a franchise. Star Trek could honestly be a good symbiotic fit alongside Elite, from a video game development frame of reference. I don't think it is Star Trek though, it's too big and expensive a franchise. I think it will be something smaller, but something still well known and respected. Apparently around the world too.
Frontier would have had to take all of this into consideration...
You know, my earlier guess might be right, it just might be Firefly game. Although that might be TOO similar to Elite....
