Modes No longer playing open

You don't feel that Frontier risks alienating 50% of its Playerbase if it simply and peremptorily locks them out of currently existing Gameplay?
You don't think that Frontier risks significant reputational damage if it transitions a game that was sold as single-player AND multi-player towards a multi-player ONLY universe AFTER people have purchased it?
You don't think that for a substantial proportion of the Player base currently playing as Single-Players that if the choice is between Playing Elite in PvP or Playing Thrones of Britannia/Crusader Kings 2/IL2 Battle of Kuban/DCS World/Stellaris/XCom 2 etc etc (insert single player game of choice here) in their preferred mode will simply choose to abandon Elite?

No, I dont think that, and it isnt even what is happening. Fake drama over false narratives is weak.

They are doing none of that.

They are doing none of that

Apart from discussing removal of currently existing gameplay pillars from existing players if they don't play in Frontiers "favoured mode"
Apart from openly stating they wanted players out of solo/co-op and into open
Apart from refusing to clearly and unambiguously rule out further diminishing solo/co-op mode gameplay compared to open mode gameplay
Apart from blatantly setting the precedent of one mode being favoured over others rather than "all modes equal"
BUT apart from that no...nothing to see here...

You say they are trying to create a multiplayer only game. They literally said they are not trying to make a multiplayer only game. They are changing one feature, a feature that until recently almost noone cared about, and all major PP groups heavily favor the chance. You are making stuff up to create an artificial hill to take your stand on. Its weak.

Modes are not created equal nor should they be equal. But despite that they are. You are missing nothing from solo play except Power Play with other people which was always meant as a multiplayer mechanic. It selfish of you to attempt to deny other players a great experience because of such a poor reason. Selfish.

You are so wrong.
Looking forward to FD Clarification.
They stand to loose a lot more if PP is made Open only.
Sadly Sandro asked a question that should never have been asked. But now that it has we're going to need an answer.
I'll complete my current exploration mission with my primary account and will then mothball the game on both accounts until we have clarity.

He is not going to play Open. Get over it snowflakes. When you get told you have no Open game and that it is either private or solo, THEN you can complain about it. And, no "It's frontiers's game" only ever applies when frontier do something you agree with, NEVER if they try to do something you don't want. And never when you want a further change to aid your agenda.

NOOOOOO!
WHATEVER WILL WE DO WITHOUT HIM????!!!

What will happen indeed when players abandon the franchise because of the way the game is being developed. And I use the term developed very loosely!

My God, you mean to say some players will eventually stop playing a game and start playing another game? WONT SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!

Which part am I making up?
The summary and arbitrary removal of a core gameplay pillar from solo/co-op modes?
The fact that frontier have overtly stated they want more players in open (and by inference) less players in solo/co-op
Or the fact that Frontier have made the paradigm shift from "all modes equal" to we have a single "preferred mode" ???
I'm curious as to which was "made up"

Is that the best you can come up with?
I've been playing this game almost exclusively since Beta. If I'm fed up I suspect many others are too.
It's about time Frontier was true to the game and itself.

Yes, and has been pointed about by many people, others will have an opposing view. So yes, whenever something happen some will like it and some wont. Some will leave, some will return, some will join, some will be indifferent. Everyone who dislike something always mumbles on about how their preferences are 'true' and 'right'. Its just a load of . More importantly: FD can easily lose you, me and any other bunch of people. We are not amazingly important. We are replacable. FD will do what they think is best for the game at large, even if that happens to be something either of us dont like.

So feel welcome to continue standing on that soapbox screaming at strangers you are considering quitting playing a specific computer game. Its wholly irrelevant to everyone but you.

And yet you keep posting!

We need consistency and for FD to follow through on their all equal statement.
If they don't the company lose repect.
Bye for now

Dont worry, every choice for mode will remain equally valid, as they always stated. :) You will be responsible for the choice you make though, as with every choice.

You say I am wrong yet you have no retort as to why.
FD have made it pretty clear what the intention is. So there is nothing to say there.
They will "lose" nothing. (Loose is like. Let "Loose" the dogs of war. "Lose" is like you lost something such as brain cells) The people who play in nothing but solo offer the community nothing already you can't lose nothing.

As for Sandro asking this question it is probably the only thing he has ever done that made any sense at all to me. As for the answer? It is yes to open power play from an actual power player.

As for you mothballing ED.

Yep'. People are not understanding what equally valid means.

Not choosing to race cars due to safety concerns is equally valid to choosing to race cars so you get showered in money & girls.

Note though, you don't get the rewards of the latter for choosing the former.

They are both valid choices, and both highly respectable choices.

That doesn't mean everyone gets a trophy though.

To OP, if you want to do competitive gaming such as Powerplay, we expect to be able to, you know... Contest you?

They dont want to understand. That makes it all a bit sadder: they are intentionally twisting words in the silly hope Sandro will say:"Oooh, you got me there, I totally thought we said something else but I must be wrong. So I will assume your interpretation of a three year old quote is definitely legally binding, so I will do exactly what you want and ignore our own vision, plus all the positive feedback we've got from all major PP groups, discord channels, reddit and our own feedback topic. Thanks for setting us straight!".

Nobody knows what will happen, but I can guarantee you this childish nonsense will have zero impact on their final decision.

People seem to think, and I've certainly fell foul of this mistake myself at various points, that we as customers have a say on development.

No, we really, really don't.

Buying a game does not equate to a seat at the conference.

We're lucky to get the FFF. Most development teams make changes with next to no notice. (Which they are perfectly entitled to do)
