Odyssey's broken optimization needs to be fixed urgently.
No you are not. I never had any major issues except anti aliasing, but that’s from 2014 original ED version until today on a mid range PC.Am I the only one who plays Odyssey without problems? I constantly see people complaining about things that never happen to me. Maybe it's my old system, but I'm surprised that more modern systems seem to have so many problems. I guess, though, that those who have no problems, don't go around telling everyone that Odyssey is perfect for them. That's not a complaint against the OP or anyone, just a more general observation.
Now, my system is, for want of a better term, 'ancient'. It's an old AMD FX9590, with a Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 GPU. Yes, I only run the game at 1080p 60Hz, but that's all my old monitors will do (I was intending to upgrade just as the mining boom hit and GPU prices skyrocketed), but I still get a constant 60fps in all areas and aspects of the game. I've not measured my fps in VR though, but my GPU does go a bit nuts with the fans when I run in VR (Pimax 8K-X native res, so 2x 4K screens).
If it's newer hardware bringing problems, I'm more inclined to stick with my old kit, and play Elite without any of those problems...
Imagine you've bought a brand new shiny car.It won't ever be fixed, engine can't handle the complexity of planet gen, structures and AI.
Either accept it as it is or move on.
It would also set expectations for a lot of current PC players. You can completely understand the frustration of "the game doesn't run smoothly even though my PC meets the recommended specifications". Finding that your rig is now below recommended isn't going to be what players want to see, but it's better than the alternative.I think after a year of Odyssey and 12 updates it's time we had a little honesty from Frontier. They set out with a targeted plan to have Odyssey on console and PC, Now they have dropped console development completely but the system requirements for PC have not been updated to reflect this change. I think Fdev need to do a honest review of the requirements and update the Store pages to reflect this so players can make an informed choice before the console transfer date.

It'll take a lot more than a 'hotfix' - else it would have happened a year ago.fdev should consider a hotfix to at least have odyssey running as it should.
It depends exactly what you 'invested' in, (I've seen your specs elsewhere, no problem) as I 'invested' (I play games, a lot, my PC is updated often) around £3,500 last December on PC & VR kit to play in 4K well, and EDO still pushes my hardware, until a miracle happens and Frontier discovers the myriad issues that are affecting performance, it is going to be 'grin & bear it' in VR for EDO, or even in high resolutions pancake. But for those of us who have invested time money and effort in a rig that's supposed to easily cater for VR and 1440p, end up frustrated and having to compromise.
Gonner keep posting to this post because for most gamers it's now the No1 issue and fdev should consider a hotfix to at least have odyssey running as it should. Unoptimised it's ruining the game.
Some gamers just chat bgs mission run In flatscreen and that's OK. But for those of us who have invested time money and effort in a rig that's supposed to easily cater for VR and 1440p, end up frustrated and having to compromise.

was that ever a promise by FDev? I cannot remember any statement from their side.[...] I just don't see Horizons performance coming to Odyssey, ever.
