Panther Clipper Captains!

We must recognize that it will be hard to resist at the charm of this Panther clipper

From the size of the concept-art and the size of the letterbox of the stations it may have less cargo space than the Lakon type-9. Why not if it gain a tad more manoeuvrability and firepower.

I dare say it may even be similar to the Type-9 in cargo, but more... manoeuvrable/aggressive. It is less wide but much longer than the T9, while maintaining the height for going through the mail-slot.

And sexy as all hell.

Nonsense! It will be 10 times the size of the Type 9, will park in orbit around the station, and cargo loading will be handled by the complementary T6 lifeboat.

So I command it, so it shall be!

Yeehaw, the clipper!

Man, in years of yore I always bought my clipper at a starport that magically had exactly zero unemployed personnel... was literally speeding up time for realtime hours just to get the crew of (I believe) 15 people together...

But then the best minigame in the universe started:
How fast can you hire and fire deck hands to squeeze the lifeblood out of these maggots and get a full crew running on minimum wage (5 cr per day, is that right?)... made me feel like a cold-hearted space tycoon :)

Questioning the size of the beast, are the 2 circled areas possibly cockpits? meaning it would be humongous or is the arrowed part the cockpit meaning it is pretty small.

I think it may well be the larger circle is the cockpit :)

Yeah, that was me. Had enough shield generators that I just let them bounce of my hull. An utter OP tank. But boy was it fun! Leaving a famined wasteland behind you and shortly to become obese population on the next rock you visit. :)

Did you even bother with weapons? I didn't for most of the time. Did the same thing in an Imperial Explorer for a while too, smaller but more style :D

The big black thing on the nose looks like a glass cockpit

I agree, specially given the size of space docks right now. If the upper part was the bridge, this thing would be about 60 times the size of a cobra -- it would never fit through the mailslot ._.

I don't think so, that would make the ship quite small as in about the size of a T7.

Perhaps a DEV can confirm which is the cockpit?

On the other hand if you look at this image for scale, look at the round thruster size and compare to the Panther, it would make sense that the large circle is in fact the cockpit.

I don't think the little thing you circled is the thruster -- that looks more like an utility hardpoint to me. If it was a thruster, we would see more of those things spaced around the ship, but the only one in the Panther that can be seen is that one. I maintain my deduction that the nose is the cockpit :)

I'm going in the nose camp, I think that nose looks like a canopy which would make it the size of a python ~ ish but not flat, more like the asp is compared to the cobra.

Still want to fly one!

Yeah, that is definitely the cockpit at the front, multi level like the Type-9

No way is that the same size as a Python, the thing is bigger than a Type-9

If you inflated a python It wouldn't actually be far off the size of the large ships was what I was suggesting, the reason its so small is its nearly flat lol.

Panther to the left, Anaconda to the right (lovely Big Ben at the center).
'tis the nose!

Can I win this thread, please?

God damn I need that ship... No ETA on it's release then? Am hoping the unladen jump range is better than the Type-9 (18LY) I want to take that beast on a long deep space voyage.

My fav ship in FFE.

Massive hold to trade or carry tons of fuel.

Turrets top and bottom, Loved to blast those pirates in them.

Ps. How is it going to fit in that letter box. The T7/T9 barely fit as it is..

If it carries 2100T like the original it will cost in excess of 500 million and cost around 1.5 billion to fit out completely A grade.

No way it should be that expensive. Elite Trader is at one billion. Why would somebody outfit a trader above that mark?

My guess is around 800-1000 tons cargo space for 300 Million (hull price). Trader equipped it will be around 500 mill.
This would basically give players a goal between reaching Tycoon in an Anaconda and the long way to Elite.
Agility should be T9 level or slightly higher to counter the larger cargo bay. It will not outrun an Anaconda, but outtrade it by 20-30% more Cr/hr.
