Seems like every one of these kinds of threads always neglects to propose an alternative solution to funding the game. Would you like a subscription model instead? I know the answer to that. Also, hoping people will buy more paintjobs will not fund development either.
I see this pretty much exactly like the Krait 2, except with the Python 2 you're not getting an expansion pack. Krait 2 was just as "p2w" as this ship.
It's a tenner, please, just dodge a kebab and chips and use the money to help FD out.
Seriously get over yourself. If Frontier thought for even one second that a subscription model were viable, they'd be doing it. The reason there's no subscription model is because FDEV don't have the ability to consistently deliver value in a stabile reliable way which is a necessity for ongoing autopayments over time.
Every one of these kinds of threads has a person like you in it who dangles the looming threat of a subscription model over our heads whenever there's a discussion about any particular obnoxious decision FDEV makes. Meanwhile we're talking about what is actually happening right now here in real life, and what is wrong with it. The fact that nobody can broker a positive defense of these decisions, only split hairs about definitions of terms or else make appeals to a COMPLETELY IMAGINARY hypothetical "worse" alternative, says everything.
We don't need to run Frontier's company for them. We don't need to "propose alternatives" to getting mistreated or disrespected. That's Frontier's job. And if they can't treat their customers (and potential customers) with a certain baseline of respect or honesty then their job is to change or to fail. Pay2Win is bad and makes all games worse. It's a perverse incentive. Frontier said they would never ever do this. Frontier has a bad track record. They've broken promises to their community before, and weaseled around the spirit of other promises. This is a bad look, and deserving of all the scrutiny it is receiving.
"Disney Dollar" style company currency is bad for consumers full stop. Frontier didn't have to "adjust" their ARX store and thereby retroactively steal money from people who had purchased ARX upfront; they could have raised the real world currency price of ARX themselves and then everyone's ARX would still have the same purchasing power as before, and then Frontier could still charge more money, too. But look at me here I am proposing alternatives like a chump, which none of us needs to be doing. They never had to create the currency in the first place. All we need to discuss is whether we like it or dislike it, and why.
It is sane and reasonable to take issue with these practices. The price of a Kebab wherever you happen to live is really really not a part of this.
