Pay2Win made it to Elite

Nope...
...but then, the T8 has zero interest for me as an early purchase, I rarely haul goods, and in the main then only between station & FC, then, later, FC to station.
The other 2 ships would need to be exceptional to be interesting, and, as I am not an exporer or miner, if they were particularly suited to those activities, would be very low desire for me.
Honestly wouldn't mind a new miner, but honestly feels like we have good options at each size. I kind of wonder what a new hull could really offer, but if the found something relevant I'm interested to see what it would be.

I'm not arguing that it has or will happen, I'm arguing that it can look like it has happened from the outside even if it hasn't, which is dangerous for Elite Dangerous.
Fair enough but again, those misperceptions are easily rectified via a youtube video, though depending on who you watch, so maybe that's the real issue?

My alleged common sense says that the T-8 should be a new SCO equipped hauler, leaving the other 2 professions in need of similar.
I'm happy to have grabbed the P2 (I had the Arx and a lot of curiosity) as it may just end up being half-reasonable for combat. (and keep me busy as that account is in the bubble, so lots of engineer trips for experimentals)
We'll see what comes later, but, in truth, new ships are fun to consider.

Is that how much that is now? :(
That's the barebones, which, if you have engineered modules stored, can be tarted-up nicely.
I see power issues with hi-draw toys on it, so have to nip to an engineer or 2 for some re-work on a C6 PP...
Quite quick with G5 dirty, will get drag experimental later today.

I was talking about doner kebabs :)

@Rat Catcher you are a box head like me arent you? have you inspected the ships bridge in VR yet? if so how does it compare to the mark 1, have they changed it much?

thanks

That comes next, Mike.
Just had dinner, so will fire up the Q3 in a little while and give my opinion!

I was busy doing outfitting on the barebones in pancake first. Now it does 540+ m/s boost, it is time to play sillies.

I looks very similar to the MK I, without loading up the OG I can't be too specific.
But, the lines are clean inside, some nice detail visible and is a dream to fly in VR. (everything appears to be in the right place, in both eyes...)
Pilot is on the left hand seat, memory says it was the right, but I'm old...
Not flown the OG since having the Q3, so may be admiring the very same lines that were not sharp on the Q2.

Gorgeous, regardless!

Looking forward to it, though not sure whether to buy the standard or delxue version.. leaning more towards the standard atm.
Tough call, Fizzy...
Getting the posh one unlocks basic, and permits use of ship kit & PJ on the basic... The base grey/black isn't too shabby. (but can't be added to the pre-build, only the fancy ones at 6k a pop)

Nice ship, fitting it out may be fun too!

I got the Deluxe version because I wanted the paint job and ship kit. No regrets. So far I'm loving how it looks, how it sounds and how it flies. Don't ask me how it does in combat because I haven't tried yet... I had to stop and have dinner (and I'm not a combat expert).

I'll ensure to post the fireball when I take it into a Haz res. (I'm so tempted to engineer the modules a bit...)
The basic I'm turning into something with a bit more hitting power, so will probably play pew-pew with that in a Med CZ later.

Seems like every one of these kinds of threads always neglects to propose an alternative solution to funding the game. Would you like a subscription model instead? I know the answer to that. Also, hoping people will buy more paintjobs will not fund development either.

I see this pretty much exactly like the Krait 2, except with the Python 2 you're not getting an expansion pack. Krait 2 was just as "p2w" as this ship.

It's a tenner, please, just dodge a kebab and chips and use the money to help FD out.
Seriously get over yourself. If Frontier thought for even one second that a subscription model were viable, they'd be doing it. The reason there's no subscription model is because FDEV don't have the ability to consistently deliver value in a stabile reliable way which is a necessity for ongoing autopayments over time.

Every one of these kinds of threads has a person like you in it who dangles the looming threat of a subscription model over our heads whenever there's a discussion about any particular obnoxious decision FDEV makes. Meanwhile we're talking about what is actually happening right now here in real life, and what is wrong with it. The fact that nobody can broker a positive defense of these decisions, only split hairs about definitions of terms or else make appeals to a COMPLETELY IMAGINARY hypothetical "worse" alternative, says everything.

We don't need to run Frontier's company for them. We don't need to "propose alternatives" to getting mistreated or disrespected. That's Frontier's job. And if they can't treat their customers (and potential customers) with a certain baseline of respect or honesty then their job is to change or to fail. Pay2Win is bad and makes all games worse. It's a perverse incentive. Frontier said they would never ever do this. Frontier has a bad track record. They've broken promises to their community before, and weaseled around the spirit of other promises. This is a bad look, and deserving of all the scrutiny it is receiving.

"Disney Dollar" style company currency is bad for consumers full stop. Frontier didn't have to "adjust" their ARX store and thereby retroactively steal money from people who had purchased ARX upfront; they could have raised the real world currency price of ARX themselves and then everyone's ARX would still have the same purchasing power as before, and then Frontier could still charge more money, too. But look at me here I am proposing alternatives like a chump, which none of us needs to be doing. They never had to create the currency in the first place. All we need to discuss is whether we like it or dislike it, and why.

It is sane and reasonable to take issue with these practices. The price of a Kebab wherever you happen to live is really really not a part of this.
