And yes i agree it is essential to keep african antelopes in base game but i would do the following:

Keep in base game: thomson's gazelle, nyala, blue wildebeest, scimitar horned oryx, dik dik, addax, nile lechwe, dama gazelle (the last two are not essential but would not want them AGAIN in a DLC) and add the impala.

Add in DLC: gemsbok, bongo, sable antelope (with improved versions that they all need) and as possible new additions in new DLCs greater kudu, gerenuk, eland, waterbuck, topi, hartebeest.

I don't need them back: springbok, black wildebeest (i'm ok with them but won't miss them)
I just hope for the following antelopes in PZ2:

SUPER essential: Sable Antelope (most aggressive) / Gemsbok (biggest horns) / Gerenuk (long) / Blackbuck (asian) / Bongo (jungle)

Essential: Blue Wildebeest (most common and ugliest) / Thomsons Gazelle (most famous) / Great Kudu (prettiest) / Dik-Dik (Smallest) / Eland (biggest) / Waterbuck (water) / Saiga (alien)

Wouldn't hurt: Springbok (I just want to see their jumping animation so bad) / Topi (forgotten) / Nilgai (bizarre) / Impala (graceful)

Meh, woudn't cry for them at all, wouldn't care if they miss the game: Dama Gazelle / Nile Lechwe (replaced by better Waterbuck) / Oryx (too much like Sable + Gemsbok) / Black Wildebeast (ugh, I never met a person who wants it back anyway) / Addax (Never cared sorry, and the horns are pretty much like many other antelopes and even goats)

And the most forgotten award goes to: GrantGazelle

Animal #9 - Gemsbok
Now that we have the addax and scimitar horned oryx, I don't feel the gemsbok is essential. As long as the base game has at least one of the three I'll be fine - and personally the addax would be my pick if it had to be only one. Arabian oryx is a replacement contender for its location variety and conservation value. My vote is "Doesn’t need to make it but sure."

My placement of the Gemsbok:
I agree with most - I think an oryx of some kind is essential for the base game just because it is visually distinct compared to other ungulates in Africa. I put it in essential because I personally don't mind if they choose the Gemsbok, but I also don't mind if they choose the Arabian Oryx or another similar species.

Which category does it fit into?
  • Essential for Planet Zoo 2 Base Game
  • Save for PZ2 DLCs/Deluxe
  • Doesn’t need to make it but sure
  • Can be left out entirely
Essential. But please fix the climbing for god's sake.

Also a controversial take but i think the clouded leopard has a good model compared to the snow leopard so i prefer to leave the latter for a DLC so we get an improved model and include the clouded leopard in base game instead.

Save for DLCs

Among the cats its definetly not the highest priority one in my eyes. And seeing how there are possibly limited slots in the PZ2 basegame and we have quite alot of cats in the game there is the possibility that some rather substantial cutting needs to be done among the cats. And as much as i like clouded leopards it likely would be among the first on the chopping block as there are alot of cats id consider more important to have.

The beautiful sabre-teeth cat, I'm in love with it.

BUt I think the best option for this one Save for PZ DLC/Deluxe version. There are cats I want over this, like the Snow Leopard which I find more Base game material.

I'd say save for DLC for clouded leopard, it's a unique cat that is useful for SEA zones and certainly an iconic zoo animals but being essential over the other cats we have? I think it's sort of in the middle range.

But that’s the thing then it would take up slots in dlc where we’d have to pay for it again. Instead of being in the base game cause we already bought it before

Well you would have to pay for it again either way since the base game wont be free either, but thats besides the point.

And i agree, ideally everything we have now would return in the basegame of pz2, but looking at it realisticly it would likely have limited slots.
I didnt put it in the save for dlc category just for the fun of it, but because thinking about what a PZ2 with limited slots, what needs to be there and what could be added back later. And I mean and isnt that the whole idea of this thread?

I'd say save for DLC, but I'm strongly against any animal from the first game being put in a DLC in the sequel. I'll put it in doesn't need to make it but sure. A good pick, but not an essential one.
