Well tbh most of them are mods, and they all got decent remakes later on.
Thank you, Frontier, for bringjng the Red River Hog to the game. 
Also, the Lar Gibbon. I kniw that for some a gibbon is a gibbon, but the siamang's weird throat pouches freak me out.
The fossa, the water monitor, and the sloth aren't on my personal preferred animal list, but I'm sure that the models will be gorgeous as usual.

Playing ZT1 and ZT2 for such a long time made so grateful for PZ existence at all.
To be fair AD team and similars to them made great remakes and solo animals. But coming back to them always make me appreciate for instance; PZ making Wombat an official animal
They did, but here's recent mods from ZT2 :
ZT's community has been doing an incredible job but the engine's limitation really goes to show how PZ was a huge step forward for zoo games fans
That's a white-checked gibbon actually... close enough I suppose (and yes, the rest are mods).
Most of these animals are pretty common in zoos so Iâm happy to see them in. Itâs good to see more highly requested animals getting picked.
Honestly, I do not get the disappointment with this pack. First of all, Frontier added 3 of the top 10 Meta-Wishlist animals, which are animals that are HIGHLY REQUESTED by the fans. Frontier doesnât have to listen to us at all honestly, because its truly a rarity for a company to even listen to requests. Frontier couldâve chosen all of the animals themselves and it mightâve been an even worse selection.
Its strange to me that this selective outrage is suddenly coming out for people with âpersonal wishlistsâ and who focus on whether the animals are similar to other animals or those whining about âbut its the same rig.â Who cares? This isnât Zoo Tycoon 2013 which was literally the same rig for like 10 animals used on repeat.
And for the love of our feathered friends, with just got a bird in the last pack! There are harsh realizations you guys need to make. They will not put a bird in every pack. They will not put a reptile in every pack. Frontier has the right to pick whatever animals they want in addition to highly requested animals. Let me tell you something. I may not have been a fan of the Nile Lechwe, and nobody really asked for it, but it became one of my most favorite animals in the game.
Also, as more and more DLCs roll out, there us going to be overlap. There are only so many unique animals they can add. You can be disappointed in the pack all you like, but donât knock their picks when you know full well they were highly requested or they wanted to give some spotlight to under-requested animals and Frontier is actually listening to fans.
Iâll bet you $100 the next pack they release with highly requested animals, people will be like âbut we already have thisâ or âthis pack is awful because it has none of MY personal wishlist animals on there.â
To keep this story short: Frontier canât please everybody and that shouldnât be held against them.

Well said, I share many of the same opinions that people keep trying to force their own personal wishlists as community needs
I'd argue birds - flying or otherwise - are absolutely community needs, and this is coming from someone pretty pleased with the pack (finally got my fellow ginger of the pig kingdom
), but willing to say the continued lack of birds is deeply, deeply upsetting.

I agree that the pack is getting a lot of undeserved criticism. The two toed vs three toed sloth outrage in particular is kind of ridiculous to me tbh and i don't mind at all that the species they choose is the brown throated sloth, i'm just happy we'll get a sloth.
I do however would like to know what is that they have against birds lol Why ANOTHER semiaquatic monitor instead of a bird. Yeah i know we are also lacking in habitat reptiles, but common they are aware of the community outcry for more birds, even if they are not free flying, just regular habitat birds. And i'm personally also frustrated that no SA monkey was included in a TROPICAL pack... i just hope there is a rainforest animal pack coming in the future to make up for this.
That said i do think the pack is really good. The animals shown so far look fantastic, the building pieces are gorgeous and the foliage is not only cool but so necesary. So overall i'm happy with it. I'll buy it at launch (unlike the Twilight pack, which to me still stands as the worst DLC to date). I just hope that Frontier would drop the oddball pics for the animals we have left since we still have to get many iconic and popular animals and just a limited number of DLC left.

Both the gibbon and river hog got traction mostly due to internal hype in the forums and inability to cast a generic vote
I'd not say Island Excursion is 'recent' mods. It's one of the classics.
I would actually say birds are one of the very few animal groups that can be considered a need at this stage in the game. I am fully with you, we got 4 highly requested animals, a building theme that's popular in zoos and evident in the community builds (koali, for example), that will help reduce piece count and improve performance, and people still want to complain.
I donât understand why frontier always ignore birds
If frontier change monitor to ibis, I think the attraction of this pack will increase greatly
They must be completely uninterested in them. There is no other good explanation at this point
