I was one of the players who wanted the specs of the polar bears reduced. I am happy Frontier reacted and reduced them by half. I really, really get the point on the initial numbres.
Currently I'm working on a new project. A section zoo, that is build like the gutes would make a world tour. Kind of like the concept in hannover, germany. I build a polar bear habitat that was huge. You know what? It's still too small. But that is not fault of Frontier or the Polar bear, nor is the updated numbre unrealistic in terms of animal wellfare. It simply means that a polar bear doesn'tfit into the concept of my zoo, as I need the space for a lot of other animals. I don't want the numbres to be reduced any further. I want a good compromise between "it's just a game" and "I want this realistic" and in my opinion the current solution is this compromise.
The polar bears will find their way into my game in another way. Maybe I'm building a zoo with only arctic animals.Or I'm building a conservation park like Jonti (Geekism) did with Nuna Kanata. I don't know yet. But I will adaped my ideas to the realism that is in the game.
And by the way: Good zoos in real life have concepts these days. If you don't have room for a polar bear, the animals do not fit into the concept of your zoo or you are trying to collect animals like stickers. But unfortunately you can't have all the shiny ones without drawing a line somewhere.
That said, I have enough of this topic now.
