Client Installer - Launcher Not Working

Just bought the latest Beta release today, (31-05-14) the launcher does not work... "Elite Dangerous Launcher Has Stopped Working" Doesn't matter how or where I install it just refuses to work. Which is a tad annoying given the price I just paid.. :eek:

Ok I asked about this, this morning after I purchased it, and it refused to install, and either vetting for this forum is very slow, or it was ignored..! It does not run "Elite Dangerous Launcher has stopped working"... I tried adding the "Products" folder for the fix, but it does not work...! Please give me some indication that someone is reading this... One hundred and sixty odd dollars is a lot to pay for something that does not run..! Thank you

They are normally very quick to get back to you if you raise a ticket. Possibly they are a little swamped at the moment with all the new people in Beta like yourself.

For support inquiries please primarly use ticketing system https://support.orerve.net/http/user/loginform - and you can use http://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=53 too. Also please give us more detailed information, what exactly you got as error because from this info it is hard to tell what's went wrong.
 
hello, may you help me?

I don't know how to play single player or I have doubts about it. When I am in the main menu I can see:

1-combat scenarios (I can play only the first one, the rest are forbidden)
2-multiplayer
3-options
4-quit

So which one is for single player? I see premium beta r29410, and I think is all ok (client version is 0.2.981.0)

ok thanks. So if I want to trade, upgrade, travel, etc, I need to play multiplayer.

Yeah, because single player online will come as form of matchmaking, which is planned sometime in beta, and single player offline will come after beta I think. So there's still ways to go for that.

I had this exact problem as well.

Took me a while to figure is out

If you go to start -> run -> type in sfc /scannow

Run it, (takes a few minutes) restart, it should work then.

Thanks for that.... ran it, took awhile, but no joy, "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" Bloody annoying that I was hoping it would be fixed. Nice to get some actual help though... ;)

So, will this increase the pace of development? I mean there's almost going to be a exponential increase in tickets, and the same amount of tickets readers...

I'd hate to be in the support queues compiling the info right about now. ;)

I do not know if this will increase the pace of development. But as for any tsunami, it will be necessary to mop later. If there is a tsunami, of course

There are going to be at least 3 different sources of "bugs" that will input into the fix/stabilisation process: tickets raised by people, crash logs submitted, and anything raised on the servers that we don't see directly.

For tickets I guess there will be a first pass to find the interesting/high priority stuff, then a second pass to de-duplicate once most of the core issues that have been identified. A core issue can be looked at straight away and doesn't need the ticket de-dupe to complete first, and really that is another way of saying that multiple tickets will map down into a single defect fix.

For crash logs and server failures there are probably going to be some kind of "volume" measured against a signature for each crash report (the crash location in the code is a good place to start). Volume can then identify a priority list of critical defects that need to be fixed.

There's a fairly high rate being reported at the moment - I've raised two tickets earlier today about 80 minutes apart with a difference of 37 on the ticket numbers. For Frontier to go ahead with the beta suggests they're expecting roughly the same number of reports to deal with for the increased number of users - the benefits of alpha testing with a smaller group showing that the support process is also robust :D

There's always a spike when there's a new release and the forums will calm down some of the volume as the issues are reported out and people find that they are "not the only one". So reading the forum after you've found an issue, and posting to the forum once you've raised a ticket is a good thing to be doing :)

My HW specs are Intel i7 2600 @ 3.4Ghz, 8 GB RAM, EVGA Geforce 670 GTX FTW edition, GPU is loaded only 47 % when fps drops... Is that game bug or something on my side...

More likely to be a CPU bottleneck than anything else. There's a lot of physics going on in asteroid belts, and when multiple ship positions need to be tracked (especially multiplayer).

:eek: What kinda CPU do you need to play this game :eek: Will they optimize it or make physics work on nvidia GPU ?
